Aura has been tied to Jeanne since childhood: she is the daughter of a maid who served in Jeanne's household, and through playing together she eventually became Jeanne's own maid. When the house fell, both were enslaved.

Tenma rescues Aura and Jeanne after Aura, collapsed with a fever, falls into slavers' hands together with her mistress; he restores her with recovery magic. Aura stays on with Tenma as a maid. Her elder sister is Aina, spoken of as an "incredible maid."
