The Heavenly Demon is Seo Baek Hyang (서백향), leader of the Demonic Cult and one of the central figures of "Chronicles of the Heavenly Demon," the martial-arts (Murim) story chosen for one of the Tower's floors. Abandoned as a child in a blizzard and named for "the scent of snow," she was raised by the Demonic Cult and taken as a disciple by the Demonic Buddha, who recognized her lethal potential.
By the time Kim Gong-ja arrives with Viper, the Master Alchemist, and others, her world has been consumed by a zombie epidemic and eternal winter. Only she and her lifelong rival, the Murim Lord Namgung Un, remain—both bitten years earlier, keeping their rotting bodies moving through sheer mastery of Ki. Determined to die with dignity, the two continue their futile duel long after all their followers have fallen.
In her final days, Seo Baek Hyang takes Kim Gong-ja as her disciple and teaches him the Infernal Heavens Demonic Art, entrusting him with the future of the cult. Understanding at last the meaning behind his actions, she dies content. As the Heavenly Demon she had stolen and stored all the martial arts of the Murim.
