Fang Yuan

Fang Yuan is the protagonist of Reverend Insanity, a man from modern Earth reborn into the brutal Gu World, where cultivators refine mystical creatures called Gu to gain power. After living a full 500-year first life as a blood-path Gu Immortal, he obtained the legendary time Immortal Gu, Spring Autumn Cicada, and used it to send his will back to his teenage self in the Gu Yue Clan, determined to relive his path and reach the pinnacle of cultivation.

Growing up in the Gu Yue Clan he was praised as a prodigy thanks to his transmigrated adult mind, but at the awakening ceremony he was judged to have only C-grade aptitude while his younger brother Fang Zheng received an A. Branded worthless and ostracized, he left the clan, wandered all Five Regions, and eventually stumbled onto an inheritance of the Blood Sea Ancestor, launching his rise as a demonic blood-path cultivator.

Fang Yuan is a true demon without moral restraint, an unflinching opportunist who will betray or sacrifice anyone the moment it profits him, yet who never underestimates an enemy and always plans for failure. Cold, patient and self-reliant to the extreme, he treats arrogance, humility and pride as masks and tools, closer to a high-functioning sociopath than a man of feeling.

Armed with foreknowledge of the future and the Spring Autumn Cicada as his ultimate insurance, he schemes his way from a despised clan youth across the Five Regions, gathering inheritances and clashing with the righteous forces and the shadowy sects alike in his relentless pursuit of the Gu world's highest truths.
