Teleport Incident

The Teleport Incident was the turning point for the Greyrat family: the ten-year-old Rudeus, together with Eris, was cast onto the Demon Continent; his mother Zenith onto distant Begaritt; while his father Paul and little sister Norn survived in Buena Village. So began a years-long saga of wandering, searching and reunions across every continent of the world.

The lord of Fittoa set up refugee camps and posted searches through the Adventurers' Guild; Paul founded the 'Buena Village Search Party.' The cause of the catastrophe long remained a mystery — it was to investigate it that Rudeus later enrolled in the Magic University.

The Teleport Incident was a vast Mana Catastrophe that struck the Fittoa region of the Asura Kingdom. After a strange anomaly in the sky came a mana surge of colossal scale: there were no explosions, yet people, buildings and even trees were as if wiped from their places. Fittoa's inhabitants were flung by teleportation to random points across the world — to other continents, into mountains, into the sky, into the sea.

Where a thriving region had stood, a bare plain remained, breaking off at a sharp border where Asura's paved roads also ended. Many died instantly — torn apart by monsters or cast where life is impossible; merely confirming a death already counted as fortune.
