Descrição

By Orsted's account, the «Demon God Laplace» is in truth a degenerated form of «Dragon King Laplace», the sole survivor of the first five Dragon Generals (Warlords). Bursting out of the collapsed Dragon World, he wandered this world as the Second Dragon God, honing technique and art toward one goal — to slay the Man-God — and passing his style to gifted people.

In the Second Human-Demon War, Laplace fought the Battle God (Aldebaran), a servant of the Man-God, and his soul was split in two. Thus arose two beings: the «Demon God», who came to hate humans and remembered only the goal of destroying them, and the «God of Technique», who lost his magic but remembered his techniques and founded the Seven Great Powers.

About four hundred years ago the Demon God Laplace was defeated and sealed by Pergius and two other heroes. But first he scattered his «factor» across the world and sent his soul into the future through the Dragon race's secret art of reincarnation — meaning he is certain to be reborn.

Powers & Abilities

Laplace possessed a colossal reserve of magic power but could not cloak himself in battle aura; even so he was tremendously strong and waged a war that nearly cornered humanity. He is held to be the one who cursed the Superd (Speld) race, making them outcasts.

He scattered the «Laplace Factor» across the world: its bearers are born with vast mana and magic talent, green hair, or innate Demon Eyes. Both Sylphiette and Rudeus himself carry this factor — which is why Rudeus can hold such an incredible reserve of mana.

To reach the Man-God, one needs the five treasures of the Ancient Dragon race, one held by each Dragon General; the last belongs to Laplace as the Magic Dragon King — and it can only be obtained at the cost of Laplace's own life.

Story

Throughout the saga Laplace remains a sealed legend and a looming future threat rather than an active character. He is much discussed: Orsted reveals his true nature, while Ruijerd and Eris are bound to him as the enemy of their people.

Orsted sought to pinpoint where the reborn Laplace would be born and kill him in the cradle, but the death of Pax (and thus the failed Shirone Republic, where Laplace's ancestor Bolt Macedonius was to rise) derailed Laplace's birth at the needed point — and Orsted deemed this cycle a failure.

By calculation, Laplace will be reborn in about eighty years: he will come into the world as an infant, hide for a time, gather followers, and unleash a war. To prepare for that war, Rudeus and Orsted gather allies across the world.

Trivia

Among the Seven Great Powers Laplace holds two ranks at once: First — «God of Technique», Fourth — «Demon God»; these are the two halves of his split soul.

Orsted learned the details about Laplace from records he left in the ancient dragon ruins before losing his memory. The irony is that the amnesiac Laplace never found his own records.
