Tang Jiun is the second son and eldest of the Sichuan Tang Clan's offspring, a tall and stately young man with hair bound by a red leather cord. Courteous and reserved in public, at home he is Tang Soran's bashful but sincerely loving brother, cooking simple meals for her and rejoicing whenever his sister emerges from her seclusion.
On Mount Emei, Tang Soran places Tang Jiun at the centre of her scheme: she offers Cheongwol a wager in which the loser must show him around the village. Later, when his sister sets out on a journey, Tang Jiun meets her with carefully prepared food and, flustered, asks about her suitors at the marriage viewing.
