Yang Kai

Yang Kai is the protagonist of Martial Peak. He begins as a lowly Trial Disciple of High Heaven Pavilion and the neglected ninth Young Master of the Yang Family, one of the Eight Great Families of the Great Han Dynasty. A genetic defect leaves him unable to cultivate, until he fortuitously obtains a mysterious Black Book containing the legacy of the Great Demon God, which repairs his body and finally opens the path of Martial Arts to him.

Neither arrogant nor servile, Yang Kai is calm, shrewd and confident. He is famously ruthless toward his enemies, in stark contrast to the loving, caring and generous affection he shows his family, friends and allies, a trait often credited to his mother's upbringing.

After acquiring an Ancestral Dragon Source, Yang Kai sets out on the path to becoming a true Divine Spirit, transforming from Human into a Golden Divine Dragon. Across countless higher worlds he founds the High Heaven Sect and later the High Heaven Palace, becomes a Great Emperor of the Star Boundary, and gathers a great family, including dao companions such as Su Yan, Xia Ning Chang and Shan Qing Luo, as he climbs toward the peak of the Martial Dao.
