Tesh is Wilk's personal servant, belonging to the second type of House Quordenze staff: those who serve a particular family member and see to his daily life. He is provident and quick — he readies the bath in advance, tidies the room, and while his master dines discreetly removes the traces of his trysts, decorating the chambers with flowers begged from the gardener.
It is to Tesh that Wilk turns when his father orders him to know a woman: Tesh produces a ready-made note with the budget and explains the rules — one must consult over the personal servants of the lord, the grandfather, the lady, and the princess, while with masterless servants or those attached to Wilk personally he is free to act as he pleases. Tesh helps arrange the slave trader's visit and the purchase of Eve, all the while remaining a tactful and cautious confidant.
