Rainer is Kuuna's elder brother, a roughly 190-centimeter Golden Fire-Fox and a rank-five mage, captain of Erushie's elite unit, the Nettles. In time he warms to Souji and becomes like a big brother to him.
He should not be confused with a minor academy student of the same name, Lyle's brother; the canonical Rainer is Kuuna's brother, a warrior of Erushie. As Yukina's adoptive father and Kuuna's kin, he belongs to Syril's extended family.
