Irulande is the world where the story takes place. It was first known to the hero only as a VR-RPG: playable a few hours a day, banned by the state, with some two hundred thousand players, where one real hour equaled a game week. In truth it is a simulation of a real parallel world, made by the Goddess to select a hero's soul.
The world is medieval fantasy without firearms but with banks, paper money, and slavery, overseen by administrators of worlds—gods like the Goddess of Fate. Its chief powers are the martial Kingdom of Corine and the tiny yet hyper-advanced Erushie.
