The World Tree (sekaiju) is the heart of the elven forest kingdom of Silva-Harna, under whose protection the entire country stands. In the world's electrical metaphor it serves as the 'power line': it converts the colossal power of the primordial spirit Amon (the power plant) and distributes it across the whole forest.
The spirit Amon is bound to the World Tree through 'keystones' (substations), whose bearer is a sacrifice — formerly the priestess Silfaria, and after her the princess Mari was to become one.
The World Tree is gradually decaying, which doomed Silva-Harna and drove it to seek Alveria's protection. In the finale, Miria's rite was fed in part by the power of the World Tree and Amon.
