Alveria
Apelidos: Kingdom of Alveria
Descrição
Alveria is a central, landlocked kingdom with no access to the sea, the strongest power in the region and the homeland of the protagonist Varis. De jure it is an absolute monarchy, but in practice power functions as a 'management team': the king proposes, the nobility debates, and the king decides. The principle of noblesse oblige runs deep here, which means little famine or unrest and the strongest knightly order around.
Unlike its neighbours, Alveria has no institution of concubines, but it does have a tradition of the 'warrior queen.' Under Varis's reforms, drawn from his past-life knowledge (sanitation, epidemiology, infrastructure), the kingdom gains running water and sewers, hygiene standards, lime production and schools, sharply raising the well-being of the common people.
The kingdom's symbol is the supporting pillar at the centre of the royal castle. In the finale Reina, partly turned demon under Morrigan's influence, destroys it, opening a 'hole'-entrance into the Ancient Dungeon beneath the capital.
