The Lilytell Family is one of the three great families that support the Abyssal Bone Forest Academy and a dominant Magus power on the South Coast. They boast a long line of official Magi across every generation and wield significant authority over academy politics, local territory and lineage-based conflicts.
Powerful but harsh, they are notorious for internal rivalries and for the ruthless methods they use to protect their reputation, including assassinations carried out through proxies. They embody the oppressive weight that great Magus houses can bring to bear on ordinary acolytes.
Leylin falls out with them irrevocably when he kills their talented acolyte Bosain in order to seize the inheritance of the Great Magus Serholm, an act that ignites a lasting vendetta and marks one of the major political dangers of his early years.
