A powerful Divine Soul Secret Technique and Artifact combo initially created by a rogue 8th Rank Open Heaven Realm cultivator of Shattered Heaven to defend against the 9th Rank powerhouses of Cave Heavens and Paradises, the Soul Rending Thorn was acquired by Smiles Old Ancestor after defeating the former when she was still an 8th Rank Open Heaven Realm cultivator. It is later improved and mass-refined for Yang Kai during his time on Ink Battlefield by Grandmaster Ma Fan. As this highly damaging technique requires one to sacrifice a piece of their own Divine Soul, it is particularly suited to Yang Kai, who bears both an extremely powerful Divine Soul and the Soul Warming Lotus to repair, strengthen, and temper it.
