Viscount Galliana

Viscount Galliana is a shrewd politician and vassal of House Quordenze, whose lands lie near the marquis's territory. He was formerly a member of the Nanbonan Council and knows the underside of that merchant city well; he is called the star of Nanbonan. Over a cup of wine he speaks frankly with Wilk about why the Council failed, unable to choose between the interests of citizens and merchants.

It is Viscount Galliana who advises that Wilk, having grasped Nanbonan's affairs, attend the surrender talks, and he takes on the main address at the peace conference — it does not befit a marquis to haggle with commoners. He also draws up a list of local residents fit to serve as officials of the new administration, helping House Quordenze entrench itself in the conquered city.
