The Jinkaen Empire is a power neighboring the Kingdom of Levios, against which House Quordenze wages drawn-out wars. After the death of its second emperor the empire fell into the turmoil of a war of succession that heavily redrew its borders: the once-inland city of Nanbonan became a border town between Jinkaen and Levios overnight.
The Nanbonan Council, striving to preserve its independence, secretly financed and armed the imperial nobles of Jinkaen who fought House Quordenze. As in Levios, a custom prevails here whereby married and betrothed women shave their pubic hair.
