Roynas Volm

Roynas Volm is a figure of the popular-democratic faction of the coastal kingdom of Bertea. Despairing in the long struggle between the aristocratic and popular parties, he resorted to forbidden heretic magic and summoned the 'black demon-god' Biblos, sacrificing his own sister. The summoning destroyed Bertea's capital, and Roynas himself perished.

He dreamed of democracy for Bertea. Though his method turned to catastrophe, his dream was indirectly realized later: after the war, Bertea was rebuilt by Alveria as a free city with a parliament of merchants and artisans.
