Holy Magic

Holy magic (shinsei maho) is one of the four magic systems, working miracles through prayer to the creator-god: healing and purification. It is fueled by the caster's own mana. It is regarded as the 'word of god' and forms the foundation of the Zairant theocracy.

The highest expression of holy magic is the rite of Holy War (seisen). Miria, the 'saint' and heiress of the ducal House Elfein, wields the highest holy magic: healing 'short of death,' anesthetic paralysis, instant bodily restoration, and enhancement to heroic levels.

In the finale Miria performed the supreme rite of the 'descent of the creator-god' (sousei-shin kourin), replacing the required sacrifice with power drawn from the World Tree and Amon, 'deceived the god,' and paralyzed the theocracy's Holy War without a single sacrifice, for which she was recognized as the 'greatest saint.'
