Xie Hong Chen is a Core Disciple of High Heaven Pavilion, reckoned its second most talented after Su Yan. As a Disciplinary Hall disciple he was meant to keep order, but he used his position for personal gain and to settle scores with other members of the Sect.
After Su Yan rescues Yang Kai from the Black Forest Prison, Xie Hong Chen comes to see Yang Kai as a love rival and stops at nothing in his repeated attempts to kill him.
When Yang Kai and Xia Ning Chang leave the Pavilion to obtain the Nine Yin Dew, Xie Hong Chen tips off their enemies and conspires with local gangs to ambush them. His treachery ultimately leads to his death at the hands of Su Mu.
