Chapter 1909: Fierce and Unyielding

January 17, 2020 · 4 min read · 715 words

How powerful was 's spiritual sense now? With a single sweep of his consciousness, he could see the entire enemy camp as clearly as if it were laid out before him. Every detail — even the expressions on their faces — was as transparent to him as looking at something in broad daylight, down to the finest hair.

The instant his spiritual sense stirred, his gaze lifted slightly, and he spotted the one who had just spoken so rudely.

Jiang Chen's Evil Golden Eye unleashed its power once more, transforming into two streaks of brilliant light that shot through the void in the blink of an eye, piercing straight into the man's pupils.

The speed of it was almost beyond the capacity of words to describe.

One moment the man had still been bellowing arrogant threats. The next, as if his throat had been sealed by a blade, a faint tremor ran through his entire body. In the following instant, he stood as motionless as if every acupoint on his body had been struck at once, his mouth hanging open in mid-sentence, the expression frozen on his face as though it had been carved there.

The scene was as eerie as could be.

By the time everyone registered what had happened, the man's body had solidified as though his blood had congealed and countless streams of molten copper and iron had been poured over him. Within a handful of breaths, he had turned completely rigid.

The onlookers blinked, and in that single instant the man had become a statue — as if he had stood there for thousands of years, utterly still, not so much as a twitch.

This…

The cultivators near the man scrambled away from him as if the statue carried some horrible contagion, terrified that the affliction might spread and turn them into the same grotesque shape in the next heartbeat.

"Wh-what happened to him?" someone stammered, still shaken.

"He must have been hit by some sorcery — the other side knows demonic arts!"

"What demonic arts? This is obviously a petrification Divine Ability — it turns a perfectly normal person into stone, into a statue!"

"That's not some ordinary petrification technique. If it were petrification, he'd have turned completely to stone. This man became a statue, sure, but it looks more like a bronze figure or a golden idol."

Not every person on the scene was ordinary. A few with sharper eyes immediately picked up on something off about the transformation.

But what they were even more curious about was how the man had actually been hit. The opponent hadn't so much as lifted a finger against him — so how had he suddenly turned into a statue? This method of attack was simply terrifying.

Jiang Chen actually hadn't wanted to rack up any more killing. He'd only intended to make a show of force against the Sancai Island Domain, giving them pause and persuading them to back off. But this fellow had not only been arrogant but outright abusive, referring to himself as "your daddy" at the drop of a hat.

Against someone like that, Jiang Chen naturally saw no reason to be polite. A single decisive strike to make an example of him — killing the chicken to scare the monkey, so to speak.

"Your Majesty, I'm waiting for your answer." Jiang Chen paid the man-turned-statue no further attention at all, addressing the emperor with a calm, steady voice.

That emperor, too, had been thrown off balance by Jiang Chen's display. The attack had been far too strange, far too difficult to guard against.

"Your Majesty, this kid is exceedingly strange — could he be the helper Prince Huo has brought along?"

"If he's the one who took down Gao Kui and the others, then we absolutely cannot afford to underestimate him."

"Maybe his real skill is just this strange sorcery — we haven't actually seen him do anything else. Your Majesty, what exactly is he?"

In that single moment, Jiang Chen had effectively intimidated every last person in the Sancai Island Domain.

The one called Zhao Situ had remained silent until now, but at this point he suddenly spoke up: "This is an ocular technique — haven't you all realized? This is a highly refined ocular technique!"
