The Divine Realm had all kinds of books — some were meant for reading, some for learning skills, and some for direct use. The Dark Bible belonged to this last category, and within that category there existed an exceedingly rare and special type: the ancient scripture.
Ancient scriptures recorded vast amounts of information about the Divine Realm. Any player who obtained one was granted a single chance to open it and receive an answer to one question about the Divine Realm's secrets.
It might not sound like much, but ancient scriptures were once treasures that drove the entire Divine Realm into a frenzy.
Back during the auction at Black Wing City, ancient scriptures had sold for astronomical prices — far higher than even Legendary item fragments.
Why so expensive?
Because a player could learn the location of a Legendary item from an ancient scripture. That gave someone a real shot at obtaining a Legendary item, which was exactly why ancient scriptures were so valuable.
Of course, besides Legendary items, you could also discover incredibly powerful super skills or learn the whereabouts of various rare items. But when it came to boosting one's overall strength, a Legendary item was undoubtedly the best choice.
Legendary items in the Divine Realm were extremely limited in number. Nobody knew how much effort it would take to find one — or rather, effort alone wasn't enough. You needed both luck and strength.
Every Legendary item was notoriously difficult to obtain, and none had a precise location. Only clues.
Clues were not a hundred percent reliable. The vast majority were traps.
That meant you could spend enormous amounts of time and end up with nothing to show for it.
Many major guilds would pour the full weight of their organization into finding a Legendary item, investing enormous amounts of time just to gather some clues. Then, from the mountain of leads they accumulated, they had to narrow down the item's actual location. The manpower and resources required were staggering. Even with the full power of a major guild, the odds of obtaining a Legendary item were vanishingly small.
But an ancient scripture could pinpoint the location of a Legendary item directly, without having to sift through every clue one by one. That was why ancient scriptures were so precious and rare.
"Looks like this trip wasn't a waste after all." Shi Feng gazed at the ancient scripture in his hand, the corners of his mouth curving upward.
