"Guild Leader, the hidden door is right inside the flames." Huo Wu pointed at the silvery-white fire as she spoke.
Just as
"Fire damage that high?" Although Shi Feng had already noticed the silver flames were no ordinary fire, he hadn't expected them to be this powerful.
Dealing 2,000 damage per second to players—even with 70 points of fire resistance, he would still take significant damage. Given enough time, death would come all the same.
"Ziyan, keep healing me. I'm going in for a closer look." Shi Feng stepped into the ten-yard radius of the silver flames.
Instantly, fire damage of nearly 500 appeared above his head.
"Truly scorching." Standing on the ashen-white ground felt like soaking his feet in a hot spring.
And this was while wearing his Blaze Boots, which reduced the heat he felt. If he had been wearing any other boots, he probably would have been hopping around in pain...
Shi Feng then walked toward the burning stone pillar. The closer he got to the massive column, the higher the temperature climbed, and the more damage he took. Within one or two yards of the pillar, he was already losing over 1,000 hit points per second. Even though Shi Feng had long since shed his weakened state and recovered over 8,400 hit points, he wouldn't last nine seconds.
However, with a powerful healer like Ziyan Liuyun on support, a simple Recovery plus a Power Word Shield was enough to barely keep him going.
"There really is a hidden door." Shi Feng discovered a tightly shut stone door on the burning pillar. Not far from the door hung a water-blue iron chain.
Shi Feng grabbed the chain, wanting to test whether it could open the hidden door.
But the moment he seized it, Shi Feng felt no scorching heat from the blue iron at all. Instead, the instant he gripped the chain, a wave of cold surged through his entire body. The fire damage he was taking plummeted—from over 1,000 straight down to just over 600.
"This chain is really something. I wonder what material it's made of. If only I could take it with me." Shi Feng eyed the water-blue chain with a hint of longing.
If he could bring this chain along, future runs through fire-themed dungeons or battles against fire-type bosses would be so much easier. Just holding it would grant nearly forty to fifty points of fire resistance—far superior to a mid-tier fire resistance potion. Those potions only lasted an hour, but this chain worked as long as he held it. He couldn't even calculate how much money on fire resistance potions it would save.
As the blue chain was pulled, the stone door embedded in the massive pillar slowly creaked open. Beyond it lay a dim, narrow passageway, its destination shrouded in darkness.
Once the door opened, the silvery-white flames gradually died down and eventually vanished entirely. The scorching ground slowly cooled, allowing players to pass through freely.
"Guild Leader, you really are something. With fire resistance that high—anyone else, even if they knew about the hidden door, wouldn't have been able to open it." Hei Zi said with a grin.
Although they had gained quite a bit in this Starfall Land, being unable to leave was hardly a good thing. Now that they could get out, it couldn't be better—this way they could head outside and work on improving their skill completion rates.
"Let's go." Shi Feng drew Abyssal and Shadow of Hell from his waist and slowly stepped through the hidden door.
The passage beyond was extremely narrow. The walls on both sides were covered with ancient inscriptions and patterns carved into the stone. They were so old that even Shi Feng, who was well-acquainted with the Divine Realm, couldn't identify the writing.
At most, three people could walk abreast inside the passage, making combat highly inconvenient. Fortunately, they didn't encounter a single monster along the way.
After walking through the passage for more than half an hour, the group arrived at a towering altar.
On either side of the altar stood two colossal statues of wolf-headed humanoid figures. Silver flames burned atop the altar—the very same flames Shi Feng and the others had seen at the hidden door.
