As soon as the magic lock on the Dark Gold Treasure Chest was undone, Shi Feng moved to open it immediately.
The very instant his fingers touched the chest, an unprecedented sense of deadly crisis surged in his mind. It felt as if he were being stared at by a venomous snake—a chill that made his whole body tremble with cold sweat.
Shi Feng couldn't explain why he felt it.
But this feeling was born from his years of experience and sharp intuition gained from adventuring in the Divine Realm.
"Guild Leader, is something wrong?" Huo Wu, standing nearby, noticed Shi Feng standing frozen in place and asked with confusion.
Shi Feng didn't immediately answer her question. Instead, he first looked at the ornate chest before him, then surveyed the surrounding terrain.
He instantly noticed that the terrain here was somewhat peculiar.
Within a 30-yard radius of the Dark Gold Chest, the ground was actually a little lower than in other places—a difference of roughly 15 centimeters. Although the depression was spread out over the 30-yard area, and the dim lighting of the cave made it harder to spot, it was there.
For someone with Shi Feng's keen senses, however, a careful observation was enough to detect it.
Mechanisms and traps weren't uncommon in the wilds of the Divine Realm. They were incredibly dangerous, claiming the lives of countless players, including those with advanced classes. Even in his previous life, when Shi Feng was a Tier 3 Sword King, a single trap had been the death of him. One could never be careless when adventuring in the wilds, no matter how high their level.
Faced with this strange terrain, how could Shi Feng not be suspicious?
"Huo Wu, move 40 yards away from here," Shi Feng ordered. Even though he didn't understand what was special about the 30-yard area, there was no way he was going to give up a Dark Gold Chest that was practically in his hands.
A Dark Gold Chest. The equipment inside would be Dark Gold Rank at worst. Plus, there was always a tiny chance for an Epic item.
"Okay," Huo Wu replied. She didn't understand the reason, but she complied and moved more than 40 yards away.
Just to be safe, Shi Feng drew the Abyssal Blade.
Phantom Kill!
A doppelganger instantly appeared beside him. It could last for 40 seconds, and during that time, Shi Feng could freely swap positions with it at will—a perfect lifesaving technique.
Under Shi Feng's direction, the clone also moved 40 yards away.
"Alright, everything's good."
Once he confirmed there were no issues, Shi Feng slowly opened the Dark Gold Chest.
The moment it swung open, a blinding radiance burst forth from the chest, illuminating the entire cave. As the light faded, Shi Feng peered inside and was stunned.
This was supposed to be a magnificent Dark Gold Chest, but inside, apart from a deep blue crystal pendant, there was nothing else...
The last time he'd opened a Dark Gold Chest in the God's Grave, there had been plenty of items. The most valuable was the blueprint for the Dragon Scale Set. Now, all he had was a single pendant.
"Wonder how good this pendant is." Shi Feng felt a twinge of disappointment, though equipment accessories were rare in the Divine Realm, and Dark Gold accessories even rarer. While it wasn't as valuable as the Dragon Scale blueprint, it was still a decent haul.
The instant Shi Feng picked up the pendant, a pale blue magical barrier abruptly materialized within a 30-yard radius of the chest, completely trapping him inside.
"A trap that cages you?" Shi Feng looked around and realized the bluish barrier had completely sealed him in. There was no way out.
