Chapter 2020 - Battle in the Demon Realm: Holding the Enemy Back

January 17, 2020 · 5 min read · 1,035 words

Han Li had naturally long since noticed the Blood Light Holy Ancestor in close pursuit behind him. A chill ran through his heart, and he had already pushed the Magical Power within his body to its absolute limit. The giant roc he had transformed into flapped its four wings frantically without cease.

But the speed of the small boat commanded by that Blood Light Holy Ancestor was something Han Li had never before encountered in a flight-type treasure.

Despite the identical pairs of crystal wings vibrating, the boat trailed far behind yet somehow couldn't increase the distance between them by even a fraction. This filled Han Li with great frustration.

Did he truly have to engage this incarnation of the Blood Light Holy Ancestor in battle?

Setting aside whether the opponent possessed other formidable abilities, the two treasures alone in his hands could be called heaven-defying mysteries! Han Li had no confidence whatsoever that he could withstand them.

But at this moment, his spiritual sense had already been locked onto by the opponent. Unless he could pull away by tens of thousands of miles in a single breath, there was simply no way to truly shake him off.

As Han Li fled, his thoughts raced, secretly considering countermeasures.

Just as he flashed past a small mountain range in several bursts, the great roc let out a low cry, and suddenly over a thousand silver feathers shot downward from its body. They vanished in a flash, transforming into formation flags.

With a shimmer of multicolored radiance, the flags and talismans trembled and disappeared one after another into the mountains below.

Though the roc had made this move, its flight speed was not affected in the slightest. It continued to flash repeatedly, instantly leaving this small mountain range behind and vanishing once more at the edge of the horizon.

A short while later, at the opposite end of the sky, a single blood-red thread flashed into existence. Following that, the sound of breaking air reached the mountain range as a blood-red small boat abruptly materialized in midair.

Standing upon it were strikingly identical youths, their expressions cold and detached.

The one in the lead squinted slightly, arms folded across his chest.

The two behind him had their eyes closed, hands locked in unchanging hand seals.

The blood-red boat blurred, about to sink into the void amidst a flash of crimson light.

It was at this moment that over a thousand pillars of light suddenly erupted from the mountain range below. Amidst the flashing of multicolored radiance, they instantly formed an extraordinarily brilliant, colossal formation array in the sky above the mountains.

The boat, which had been on the verge of escaping, suddenly felt the surrounding air turn unnaturally viscous, and was instantly engulfed by the power of the formation array.

"Hmph! A mere temporary formation array, and you think you can trap this Sovereign?" The leading blood-crimson youth showed no change in his expression upon seeing this. Instead, he let out a cold sneer.

Then, the youth standing behind him loosened his hand seals, suddenly opened his eyes, and spat out a ball of black light.

Within the black light, a small cauldron flickered into view—it was precisely the Purple Word Cauldron!

"Break!"

The youth who had spat out the purple cauldron lightly slapped his palm onto its surface, his expression unchanged as he uttered a low shout.

Instantly, the small cauldron blazed with intense light, its form surging wildly until it transformed into an enormous size of over ten zhang.

Following a deep hum, a black runic symbol about a zhang in size flew out from within the cauldron. It spun around rapidly and then transformed into a black hurricane that swept outward.

The black gale rumbled like surging tidal waves, carrying inconceivable might as it rolled in all directions, causing the entire sky to tremble.

The colossal formation array only managed to resist for a few moments before being torn apart as if it were paper, ultimately dissipating into countless motes of spiritual light and vanishing.

The giant purple cauldron flickered, instantly shrinking back to its original size and transforming once more into a ball of black light that sank back into the youth's body.

The youth exhaled a long breath, then formed hand seals again and closed his eyes.

The leading blood-crimson youth laughed heartily upon seeing this. The blood-red boat once again transformed into a streak of light and shot forward at tremendous speed.

The entire delay had lasted only the span of a few breaths.

Meanwhile, the giant roc that Han Li had transformed into, still beating its wings in frantic flight, suddenly sensed a faint, ethereal connection vanish.

An involuntary flash of horror passed through his eyes!

How was this possible! The setup tools for this Thousand Wonders Sea Cloud Formation should have been able to unleash eighty percent of the formation's power, yet they hadn't managed to delay that old demon for even an instant.

Greatly alarmed, Han Li's heart sank further.

A short while later, the giant roc's wings shook violently, and once again over a hundred feathers shot forth.

These feathers, the moment they left his body, blurred and transformed into talismans of various colors. They vanished in flashes, disappearing one after another into the void.

Only two silver talismans remained, fluttering in place.

One of the silver talismans flashed with silver light and suddenly materialized a warrior clad in golden armor and helmet, wielding a massive golden blade. He hovered there, head held high.

The other silver talismans flickered, and a faint golden shadow emerged. It flickered behind the armored warrior and then mysteriously vanished.

As for the giant roc itself, it showed no intention of pausing whatsoever. After several flashes, it disappeared once more at the edge of the horizon.

From a distance, it seemed as if only this golden-armored warrior remained standing quietly in that spot.

Before long, fluctuations stirred in the distant space. The blood-red boat flickered and appeared in the nearby void.

The leading blood-crimson youth standing on the boat was first taken aback by this sight, but after a brief examination of the golden-armored warrior, the sneering expression returned to his face.
