Chapter 2012: War in the Demon Realm — Battle of Heavenleaning (Eight)

January 17, 2020 · 5 min read · 1,097 words

The weakest among these Karma Wheel Battle Demons possessed cultivation at the Deity Transformation stage at minimum, and on top of that, they had mastered some of the most formidable demonic arts of the Demon Race. Naturally, ordinary cultivators stood no chance against them.

But the commotion atop the city walls did not last long. After a brief clang of gongs, thousands of astonishing streaks of light suddenly shot forth from nearby buildings. Each one blazed with blinding radiance, and in a flash, they transformed into high-ranking cultivators of various attires, who engaged the Battle Demons in pairs or threes.

The ordinary Battle Demons were manageable—through the combined might of these high-ranking human cultivators, their assaults could barely be held in check.

However, the leading several dozen demon beasts, whose abilities far surpassed others of their rank, were each ferocious beyond measure. Even when several cultivators joined forces, these Battle Demons repeatedly broke through their lines, carving a bloody path straight toward Heavenleaning City.

Just then, a stretch of ground near the city wall violently shuddered, and thirty-two colossal golden puppets burst from underground, wielding a dazzling variety of weapons, their expressionless faces blocking the leading Battle Demons in midair.

Magical techniques and treasures soared through the sky in every direction, as explosions and thunderous booms rang out without cease!

Each golden puppet's body was harder than a treasure artifact, and the weapons they wielded faintly harnessed traces of the power of heaven and earth. Moreover, they fought without the slightest hint of fear, locking the Battle Demons they had intercepted in a fierce and evenly matched struggle!

All in all, the demon side naturally held a slight edge across the entire battlefield, but with the myriad protective formations of Heavenleaning City to rely on, the humans managed to barely withstand the demons' frenzied assault.

Now everything hinged on which side could gain the upper hand in the clash between the supreme existences.

At this moment, the eerie blood cloud formed from the strange demon army churned overhead without moving. Beastly roars and thunderous booms that shook the entire void rose one after another, punctuated by human shouts and sharp, hissing cries that periodically tore through the air.

For the time being, it was impossible to discern the outcome within.

As for Fairy Silver Light and Lin Luan on the other side, under the relentless, frenzied attacks of the small woman and the white-robed man, they were forced to retreat step by step, looking as though they could not hold out much longer.

The human side was beginning to look dire in the battle of supreme existences!

Han Li waved a single hand, and seventy-two azure flying swords shot forth, transforming into seventy-two azure lotuses that rose into the air. Spinning forward in a whirling motion, they tore the giant beast with two lion heads before him into countless fragments.

Not only did no smile appear on Han Li's face; instead, his brows furrowed slightly.

Ever since he had been drawn into this strange space by the seven-colored treasure pagoda, the surrounding iridescent light had conjured countless bizarre beasts that launched continuous attacks against him.

At first, these beasts posed no threat whatsoever—a sweep of his massed swords eliminated them with ease.

But the moment one wave was destroyed, another immediately emerged, as though they were an endless, inexhaustible supply!

Han Li did not give it too much thought. After all, this was not his first time being trapped inside a Sumeru-type treasure, and he was reasonably confident in his ability to escape such artifacts.

He immediately set about controlling his seventy-two flying swords to guard his body, keeping the beasts permanently at bay, while simultaneously searching for spatial nodes within this space, intending to use a secret technique to forcibly tear open the void and escape.

But after a short while, he realized something was wrong.

This space shimmering with seven-colored light appeared to be just like the Demon-Subduing Lock—similarly boundless and infinite. Despite flying at full speed for so long, he still could not find the edge of this place.

A jolt of alarm shot through his heart, and he naturally came to a halt to devise an alternative means of escape.

"It seems the only way out is to find a spatial node in this space—only then can I use brute force to break through the barrier here." After a moment of deliberation, Han Li made his decision.

Just then, the seven-colored light flickered all around, and wave after wave of luminous, misty beasts materialized once more.

Han Li let out a cold snort. His flying swords swept forward, and countless azure lotus shadows lashed out in every direction.

Wherever the lotus shadows passed, the charging beasts were torn apart one after another—just like the previously conjured beasts, every last one was slain with a single stroke.

But Han Li's expression had turned somewhat dark, and a trace of unease stirred in his heart.

He could not tell if it was his imagination, but these newly conjured beasts seemed slightly stronger than before. Though they still appeared to be cut down in a single blow, each one consumed a bit more magical power than at the start.

Though the difference was minute, if this gradual escalation continued, it could eventually pose a genuine problem for him.

It seemed he could not afford to linger here any longer. He had to break free as soon as possible.

Having made up his mind, Han Li did not hesitate. He pressed a finger to the space between his brows.

A sphere of black light appeared out of thin air, whirled about, and a pitch-black demonic eye materialized from within.

It was the Destruction Dharma Eye!

After being cultivated within his body for so many years, this demonic eye had already developed numerous profound abilities. Now, in searching for the weakest spatial node in this place, he could put its powers to perfect use.

Han Li formed seals with one hand ceaselessly, murmuring incantations under his breath. The demonic eye between his brows finally opened slowly, black light flickering within, with faint runic symbols revolving endlessly around the pupil, lending it an air of profound mystery.

As the runes around the pupil flared, a single black thread suddenly shot out from the dharma eye, vanished in a flash, and disappeared into the nearby void.

Han Li closed his two normal eyes, but the third black dharma eye remained wide open. His figure flickered, then transformed into a streak of azure light that shot away at tremendous speed.
