Chapter 9: Spiritual Epiphany

The sea surged and rolled. There was no one else around.

The twelve survivors wore various expressions.

Seeing Bei Bei searching for that hidden powerhouse, the bearded Bates cursed inwardly: He clearly knows, yet he's doing this on purpose.

He immediately laughed and said aloud, "Bei Bei, if that powerhouse doesn't reveal himself, how could you possibly know? Right?"

"Mm, right." Bei Bei nodded.

The bald youth Bofei wore an indifferent expression. His Highgod clone had died, leaving only this Midgod clone. He said flatly, "No need to search. Perhaps that expert isn't among us at all. It's not impossible that an expert潜匿d around us, helped us, and then left."

A seven-star Demon or Asura-level powerhouse could indeed avoid the bandits' attention, sneak over, and lend a hand. But under normal circumstances, would an Asura-level powerhouse really be that bored?

Unless there was someone among them that he cared about.

"That's very likely the case," Aichi said with a broad smile. "Let's not waste any more time here. Let's set off." Aichi was the smooth and sociable type. Whether or not the powerhouse was from their team, since he didn't want to reveal himself, Aichi naturally wouldn't keep searching and risk making the person unhappy.

Aichi was ecstatic inwardly.

With such a powerhouse in their team, what was there to fear on the journey?

"Oh!" Aichi suddenly said with a bitter smile.

"What's wrong?" Everyone looked at him.

Aichi said with a bitter smile, "My last Metallic Lifeform was just destroyed, but we've traveled less than ten percent of the journey. What should we do?" He looked around. "Does anyone have a Metallic Lifeform they can lend? I can purchase it, or I'll cover all the Divine Crystals consumed along the way."

The group looked at one another.

Metallic Lifeforms were considered luxury items—most Midgod demons couldn't afford one.

"So he doesn't even keep a spare Metallic Lifeform," the bearded Bates sneered. With a wave of his hand, a Metallic Lifeform materialized and floated on the sea surface, simultaneously transforming into a ship shape. "Aichi—this one doesn't have any Divine Crystals stored in it. Load your own."

"Hmph, some expert he is, skimping on even this," Bei Bei muttered.

The bearded Bates immediately turned to look, gave a glare, then glanced at Lin Lei and laughed. He transmitted via divine sense, "Hey, Lin Lei… You're from the Four Divine Beast Clans. Are you a six-star Demon? Or seven-star? Why the hidden identity?"

Six-star Demon? Seven-star?

"I'm a one-star Demon," Lin Lei replied via divine sense.

"One-star Demon?" Bates rolled his eyes, immediately turning to fly toward the Metallic Lifeform. "Come on, everyone, get in. We're heading out."

Lin Lei transformed back to his normal human form.

"He doesn't believe me when I tell the truth," Lin Lei shook his head with an inward chuckle, then couldn't help but marvel. "The power of this Blackstone Prison is truly formidable. The fusion of Profound Mysteries is one aspect, and the application technique is another. How can such an amazing application technique exist?"

Lin Lei didn't understand.

A mere special application could increase the gravitational limit by a hundredfold. Even fusing another Profound Mystery might not produce such dramatic power.

"And if one were to deduce it, even billions of years of deduction probably wouldn't suffice." Lin Lei was well aware of the complexity. After all, who would ever think to use 108 streams of Divine Power in a specific arrangement? And among the countless ways to arrange those 108 streams, in most configurations the amplification would be negligible.

Who would have known that in a specific position, it would produce such an effect?

Before Lin Lei, only that purple juvenile beast had ever known this technique. And as that purple juvenile beast was a Divine Beast, this move was its innate ultimate technique! When the beast used it, the power was even more dramatic than when Lin Lei cast it.

"Whoosh~~~"

The Metallic Lifeform surged through the waves.

Inside, the group drank and chatted casually. But every now and then, someone would deliberately observe the others, wondering who was most likely to be that hidden peerless powerhouse.

"Who is that powerhouse?" The green-haired muscular man Tame was deeply curious, his gaze burning as he looked at each surviving person. When he saw the silver-haired man Wilborn, he shook his head slightly. If Wilborn were that powerhouse, he probably wouldn't have let his brother die.

Tame looked at them one by one.

"Not like them—I know these guys." Tame then looked at the bearded Bates. Bates glared, "What are you looking at?"

Tame immediately gave a sheepish grin.

But Tame also knew that Bates cultivated the Laws of Darkness, so he wasn't that powerhouse.

"Could it be them?" Tame glanced toward Lin Lei and the other three, scanning them one by one. His gaze lingered on Lin Lei. "No, that's not right either. I saw him use that purple longsword—it seemed to be the Laws of Wind. Not him either!"

God-level powerhouses could cultivate more than one elemental law.

But in battle, they typically used their strongest Profound Mysteries. Having seen Lin Lei use Profound Mysteries of the Laws of Wind, they assumed he was a Wind-system god-level powerhouse, never considering other possibilities.

"Lin Lei."

A voice sounded in his mind. Lin Lei was standing at the edge of the main hall, gazing out at the sea through the transparent metal wall. Hearing the voice, he immediately replied via divine sense, "Bates, why do you keep seeking me out to talk these past few days?"

"Tch. Ever since that day when I revealed my strength, those kids have been talking to me all cautiously. It's so boring," the bearded Bates said.

Lin Lei smiled. Bates was the kind of person who enjoyed lively company.
