"Ding! Database updated! Restart complete!"
After
"Excellent! Let me see what's different after the upgrade!"
Leylin's attention instantly left the book and plunged into the Chip.
"Ding! Soul Power Database finalized. Commencing collection of host data. Recalculating!" The Chip's first notification filled Leylin's face with wild joy.
"The Soul Power Database has finally been deduced?"
He had been frustrated for a long time over the Chip's inability to quantify Soul Power. He had collected a good amount of spiritual entity data, conducted numerous experiments and theoretical verifications, but still couldn't perfect the Soul Power Database.
And now, the Chip had finally worked out this aspect completely.
"Display my current status!" Leylin commanded immediately.
"Leylin Farell — Warlock Level 4 — Bloodline: Komoin Giant Serpent (Perfect Form) — Strength: 50, Agility: 45, Constitution: 74.9, Spirit: 956.8, Mana: 956 (Mana determined by Spiritual Power synchronization) — Soul Power: 96 (Five Stars)"
The Chip began feeding back data.
"Soul Power of 96? And what do the Five Stars mean?" Leylin immediately began querying.
A passage of information was then displayed by the Chip: "'Star Rating' is a Morning Star evaluation method developed by the City in the Sky, based on creatures native to the Astral Realm as the benchmark. Newly ascended Morning Stars are rated One Star, while peak Morning Stars are rated Five Stars…"
"So that's how it is. Then what creature was used as the standard?" Leylin had no particular interest in the star rating itself. Rather, he was filled with a burning desire to research the creature that served as the benchmark for Morning Star Wizards.
"The creature used to establish the standard is a native inhabitant of the Astral Realm — the Star Phantasm Race! Members of this race are born with Morning Star-level strength. Their ultimate potential is unknown. They went extinct in ancient times. The wizards of the City in the Sky obtained partial ancient data records, and thus established a series of evaluation standards based on them!"
"Star Phantasm Race?! Native inhabitants of the Astral Realm?! Born with Morning Star strength?!"
This information left Leylin utterly stunned. He had never imagined that a place like the Astral Realm actually had native inhabitants, let alone such terrifyingly powerful beings who were born at the Morning Star level.
Compared to the Star Phantasm Race, the Komoin Giant Serpent and the like would probably burst into tears — their ultimate endpoint was merely the other's starting point! There was simply no comparison. They weren't even beings on the same level.
"For such a blessed race to have gone extinct… it seems the ancient era ran much deeper than anyone realized…" Leylin sighed deeply.
"Standard Star Phantasm Race individual data has been obtained. Would you like to convert the measurement units?" the Chip requested.
Leylin's current units of measurement were still primarily based on his previous life's standards. As a result, all his stats appeared somewhat inflated — after all, they were being measured against ordinary human norms. But once measured against the Star Phantasm Race's standard, his numbers would immediately plummet.
Before, a normal person's baseline strength was set as 1. Now, the terrifying strength of the Star Phantasm Race would be 1. The difference between the two was fundamental.
"Change units? Let me try it first!" Leylin rubbed his chin. "Display!"
Ding! A flash of blue light passed, and the data panel before Leylin changed immediately.
"Leylin Farell — Warlock Level 4 — Bloodline: Komoin Giant Serpent (Perfect Form) — Strength: 1.5, Agility: 1.2, Constitution: 2.7, Spirit: 4.3 — Soul Power: 4.3 (Five Stars)"
Looking at the drastically shrunken numbers, Leylin was somewhat speechless.
"So my current strength and constitution are only slightly above Morning Star-level Star Phantasm Race members. Constitution is a bit more than twice theirs, while spiritual power and soul strength are over four times… Overall, I'm about as strong as two or three Star Phantasm Race members?"
This comparison genuinely shocked Leylin. In the entire Central Continent, he was considered one of the peak Morning Star Wizards, capable of even fighting Radiant Moon-level opponents. Yet among the Star Phantasm Race, he was barely stronger than a toddler?
He had to admit, this was quite the blow to his ego.
"Forget it! I'll stick with the previous units for now. At least with smaller units, the precision is higher!" Leylin rubbed his chin. "Once my stats increase dramatically in the future, I'll switch to the Star Phantasm Race units then — that'll be better!"
With a flicker from the Chip, his previous data was restored to the original standard.
"Would you like to display the host's Soul State Diagram? Yes / No?"
At this moment, the Chip popped up yet another prompt.
"Of course!" Leylin answered without hesitation. With the Soul Power Database now complete, his grasp over soul forces had become much more refined — he could even accomplish many things that were previously impossible.
The Soul State Diagram was one of them.
Hummm! An image magnified countless times was projected before Leylin's eyes.
His soul — the True Spirit of a Morning Star
But due to the Singularity's obstruction, very few wizards could clearly observe their own True Spirit and make appropriate adjustments. Practically none could.
Yet with the Chip's help, Leylin had finally crossed this threshold.
In the image, Leylin's True Spirit resembled a star, radiating bright light. Interspersed within it were flecks of blood-red, as though a blood-red Komoin Giant Serpent was swimming through it.
"Ding! Host's soul structure is loose and insufficiently dense. Recommendation…" Through the Soul State Diagram and the Chip's analysis, certain problems in Leylin's soul cultivation became clearly visible, and the Chip even provided specific recommendations.
If any other Morning Star Wizard learned of this, they would be consumed with envy and shame to the point of wanting to kill themselves.
Since when could the mysteries of the soul be displayed so concretely before a wizard?
"This is probably because I fused with the Fire Feather Technique too quickly — my total soul mass increased, but the quality didn't keep up!" Leylin rubbed his chin. "Fortunately, I can still remedy this by improving my Meditation Method!"
In a wizard's progression, every three levels represented a tremendous threshold. Levels one through three primarily cultivated Spiritual Power, while levels four through six primarily cultivated the Soul. If problems arose with the soul and went unresolved, they would inevitably create enormous obstacles for future advancement.
But the surprises the Chip had for Leylin were far from over.
"Ding! Would you like to generate the Radiant Moon Soul Hypothesis Diagram and comparison images?" the Chip asked mechanically.
"Yes!" Leylin chose without hesitation.
Subsequently, beside his soul diagram, several additional soul diagrams appeared. They were labeled respectively as: Radiant Moon Early Stage, Mid Stage, and Late Stage.
From these images, the difference between Morning Star and Radiant Moon was immediately apparent. The Morning Star soul truly resembled a star — dazzling and finely detailed. But even a freshly ascended Radiant Moon wizard's soul was several dozen times larger than a Morning Star's, forming a perfect sphere.
Or rather, a shape resembling the moon.
Within the Radiant Moon stage, an early-stage Radiant Moon wizard's soul only had a small portion emitting bright light, with the rest dimmed, forming the shape of a crescent moon — like a new moon obscured by the sun.
A mid-stage Radiant Moon wizard had half their soul radiating clear, bright light, resembling a half moon. A peak Radiant Moon wizard's soul was completely luminous and brilliantly radiant, like a full moon.
"I'll name these soul stages: Crescent Moon, Half Moon, and Full Moon!" Leylin labeled the Radiant Moon tiers without the slightest politeness.
Of course, his own soul was still just a star. The gap to the Radiant Moon was still immense.
"My earlier speculation was wrong. That Jesiah is probably only a Crescent Moon-level Fifth-rank Grand Wizard. And Red Pupil at most counts as a Half Moon wizard — they haven't reached the Full Moon peak state!"
A flash of insight suddenly crossed Leylin's eyes. Regarding the Fire Feather Technique, he hadn't obtained the twelfth and thirteenth layer methods, so perhaps the fourteenth layer of the Fire Feather Technique also represented the Radiant Moon level — corresponding to the soul reaching the Full Moon stage.
"In that case, the path from Level Four to Level Five has been completely mapped out and displayed in full!"
A look of wild joy surfaced on Leylin's face. The leap from Level Three to Level Four for a wizard was enormous — a jump from Spiritual Power to Soul Power. Similarly, the leap from Level Six to Level Seven was equally massive — from Soul Power to the realm of Laws. The gaps were tremendous, often sweeping away entire swaths of weaker practitioners.
But between Levels Three and Six, the focus was entirely on the Soul. Therefore, using soul tiers to represent combat power was entirely feasible!
"First, Morning Star — the soul takes on a stellar form, with intensity ranging from One Star all the way to Five Stars. Then comes the Radiant Moon stage — Crescent Moon, Half Moon, and Full Moon!"
The complete path from Morning Star to Radiant Moon now lay fully before Leylin.
"In general terms, this is the outline. Of course, there may be some extraordinary geniuses or eccentric prodigies who break through these boundaries, but the overall framework still follows this classification!"
"Worth it! This Chip upgrade — even if nothing else had been improved, the Soul Power Database alone made it completely worthwhile!"
Joy flooded Leylin's face, and he nearly burst out laughing on the spot.
"Milord!" At that moment, Yuluo's voice came through, very soft — evidently afraid of disturbing the other scholars.
"Hm?" Leylin turned his head and also spotted Bophir standing behind Yuluo.
"Ha ha! Lord Leylin has been staying in the library this whole time — this dedication to learning is truly admirable. However, the Sage Council is about to convene, and His Majesty the Sky Throne also wishes to have a meeting with you…"
Bophir wore a kindly smile on his face, but it left the female wizard beside him somewhat dazed.
