Bloodline Magic

Bloodline Magic is magic inherited through noble lineages, the very thing that makes a noble a noble in the kingdom of Yustia. It manifests once, usually between the ages of five and six, granting one attribute of overwhelming power with no effort or training required.
Its performance dwarfs ordinary General-purpose Magic, and which bloodline magic one inherits can determine a person's entire standing in society. A noble who fails to manifest any — a condition called 'Incompatibility' — is, at that point, no longer treated as a noble at all.
Rose rejects the kingdom's reverence for it: she calls Bloodline Magic a 'curse' that grants unconditional strength only by locking its bearer out of every other magic they might otherwise have learned.
