The Bartfort Territory is a small, agricultural border barony in the far reaches of Holfart, the kind of holding that nobles closer to the capital openly call a backwater. Sheep, modest farms, a handful of decrepit airships: that is the Bartfort inheritance Leon is reborn into.
Over the course of the series Leon quietly turns it into something stranger. Old Humanity logistics smooth out the harvests, Luxion's salvage funds new infrastructure, and the domain acquires defensive hardware no neighbouring lord can match. By the late arcs it is officially a marquessate and unofficially one of the kingdom's most secure fortresses.
It is also Leon's emotional anchor: the place he keeps trying to retire to, the place his eldest brother is supposed to inherit, the place the entire series is, at heart, about him fighting to be allowed to keep.
