Descripción

Unlike Lara, who almost never cried, and the loud Ars, Sieg grew up as a perfectly ordinary infant: he cried often and slept often. More than once Rudeus noted with relief that there was nothing unusual about him.

Appearance

An infant with green hair — almost the same shade the young Sylphiette once had — and slightly pointed ears; his eyes, in Perugius's words, were “like a flash of light, yet with a gentle expression.” It was precisely the green hair that nearly drew a dreadful suspicion onto him.

Story

Sieghart is Rudeus's fourth child and second son, born to his first wife Sylphiette. His green hair raised the fear that he might be the reborn Demon King Laplace: in this world, green hair is linked to the Laplace Factor. This left Sylphiette depressed for a long while, but Orsted firmly assured them that the Laplace Factor had not yet converged and that the child was an ordinary infant.

Rudeus named his son Sieghart, basing it on the name of the immortal hero of his past life, Siegfried. When the party brought the child to the Sky Fortress, the Dragon King Perugius, who had long promised to give their son a name, confirmed that he was not Laplace and granted the boy the middle name “Saladin.” Thus the infant became Sieghart Saladin Greyrat, nicknamed Sieg.

Trivia

Rudeus hastily reworked the name “Sieghart” from “Siegfried,” because there were too many names ending in “-hardt” in Ranoa.

The middle name “Saladin” was given personally by the Dragon King Perugius — hence the full name Sieghart Saladin Greyrat, which Rudeus himself found “resonant and imposing.”

To convince the distrustful Perugius that the child was not Laplace, Rudeus came before him in full battle gear and threatened war should any harm come to his son.
