Ariel

Ariel is the Origin Taratect, progenitor of the entire Taratect (spider) species, and the reigning Demon Lord. One of the oldest beings on the planet, she has lived since before the System was created. The Queen and Puppet Taratects are her closest kin and family.

Born as an experiment of the elf Potimas — a chimera splicing his genes with a spider's — she endured a torturous early life. She has a strong, independent will yet cares deeply for her kin; her personality grew more layered after her soul melded with one of Kumoko's Parallel Minds during their war. She was enraged when Kumoko killed the Queen Taratect in the Elroe Labyrinth.

Initially a major antagonist — hunting Kumoko and instigating the Great Human-Demon War — she becomes one of the main characters after her truce with Kumoko/White. As Demon Lord she militarizes the Demon Realm and pursues her own far-reaching goal for the world, with White at her side.
