Chapter 733: Two Conditions

January 17, 2020 · 5 min read · 972 words

"The most important thing for a Beast Soul Master is the tempering of soul strength, and as a Wizard, that shouldn't pose any problem at all. After sealing the fifth-level Beast Soul, combined with the other methods I've prepared beforehand, I should be able to push my true spirit to the fifth-level peak at Full Moon..."

Leilin stroked his chin, a bright gleam flickering in his eyes.

"Chip! Based on my previous calculations, what's the success rate for this method?"

[Ding! Mission established. Inputting data, constructing subject model, simulating experiment in progress... Ding! Success rate: 78.99%!] The Chip responded faithfully.

"A decent probability. At the fifth-level peak, the feasibility of my final plan would gain yet another layer of assurance..."

Leilin murmured, lost in thought.

His fundamental reason for coming to the Infernal Realm was to break through the bloodline shackles—that eternal curse that plagued Warlocks!

Due to the limitations of the bloodline shackles, even though Warlocks could advance rapidly in the early stages—sometimes even surpassing Wizards of the same tier—they remained shackled by chains that hindered their progress! One need only look at the current state of Central Continent: among Wizards, several had already ascended to the sixth-level Radiant Sun Throne, yet among Warlocks, not a single one had appeared! If not for Morning Star Fortress and a handful of fifth-level Warlocks holding the line, the entire Warlock lineage might well have been extinguished—and that alone spoke volumes!

Drawing upon his own insights into bloodlines, as well as the guidance he had received from the Ancient Tree of Wisdom within the Scarlet Ruins' illusory realm, Leilin had developed a far deeper understanding of the bloodline shackles.

"The bloodline shackles! At their root, they are still a bottleneck of bloodline power—one that has permeated every cell, every gene of a Warlock. It's remarkably similar to the 'genetic lock' hypothesis from my previous life. Of course, it's far more terrifying, because it has remodeled the very soul, becoming a shackle at the level of the soul itself..."

"And to break free from the bonds of bloodline power, you would need at least one force that ranks higher than bloodline power! And... Blood of Origin!"

A scorching light blazed in Leilin's eyes, even concealing a trace of... fear!

Energy that ranked higher than bloodline power—Leilin hadn't known of any before, but after advancing to the fifth level and broadening his horizons, he had identified two through his extensive experiences across foreign worlds. The first was dreamforce at its peak—not the depleted kind! The second was the power of Laws, and it had to be the complete power of Laws—at least ninety percent or more—not a half-finished product like the Flame Throne's comprehension, which hadn't even reached halfway.

Neither was easy to obtain.

Starting with dreamforce—the dream energy Leilin normally drew upon might appear overwhelmingly powerful, but in truth, it was nowhere near its peak.

After all, dreamforce at its peak was capable of giving rise to Evil God-level existences!

In Leilin's estimation, perhaps... only a true Dream Evil God could summon dreamforce at its peak. And given the infuriatingly unpredictable nature of dreamforce, carrying out this plan would be infinitely more troublesome.

As for the power of Laws, that went without saying—Leilin hadn't even fully comprehended a single percent of the Flame Law. To truly touch the power of Laws would require at least reaching the sixth level, and to fully command them would demand nothing less than a seventh-level Wizard.

This created a paradox: to break through the bloodline shackles, one had to master either dreamforce or the power of Laws—otherwise, advancing beyond the sixth level was impossible! Yet these two powers could only be attempted after reaching the sixth level, and without breaking the bloodline shackles, Leilin could never advance to the sixth level in the first place!

This vicious cycle alone was enough to crush the hopes of every giant serpent Warlock seeking to break through the bloodline shackles—let alone fulfilling any further conditions!

Fortunately, the gift from the Wise Ancient Tree earlier, combined with what he had witnessed in the Infernal World, had given Leilin a way to slightly circumvent this chasm.

As for the second condition—the Blood of Origin! The blood from the very source of the Komoin Giant Serpent bloodline!

This was also the root of the sliver of fear Leilin harbored.

His bloodline origin was an eighth-level existence, the supreme ruler of the Hael Continent, the sovereign of all serpentine creatures—the Mother of Ten Thousand Serpents! And he was supposed to draw blood from an eighth-level being? Heh… perhaps he should first think about which method of dying would be the most comfortable…

But no matter how impossible it seemed, Leilin would never give up, because this was a stumbling block on his path toward the ninth-level Warlock peak and the pursuit of eternity.

Without removing it, there was simply no way for Leilin to advance to a higher realm.

Though, having to draw blood from an eighth-level existence—the sheer absurdity of that difficulty was enough to make even Leilin laugh bitterly.

However, setting aside the question of whether he could even win such a fight, to draw blood from the other party he would first need to find her.

And so, Leilin had no choice but to journey to the Holy City of the Hael Continent—for it was the sacred ground of all Ten Thousand Serpent bloodline descendants, and according to legend, the land blessed by the Mother of Ten Thousand Serpents herself.

Based on the intelligence Leilin had gathered and the analysis of various sources, the probability of her being there was quite high.

After all, during the "Festival of Ten Thousand Serpents" held at regular intervals, there were almost always rumors of the Supreme Mother appearing to bestow her blessing upon the Holy City.
