Staring at the flood of bullet comments filling the screen,
He had the doctor take Liu Kang away, but he didn't shut off the camera. Instead, he aimed the lens at the large screen outside the haunted house.
"Liu Kang's business is settled. Now it's time to talk about someone else." He scrolled through his phone and opened the video Zhang Jingjiu had sent him. "I used to wonder why Liu Kang was frantically attacking the haunted house while praising Virtual Future Paradise. Then I spotted this person in the crowd."
Chen Ge pointed at Bai Buhui on the big screen. "This is the haunted house designer from Virtual Future Paradise. He's still wearing a Virtual Future Paradise employee badge. He came along with Liu Kang to visit, and he'll probably end up in the same hospital room."
The video kept playing and quickly reached the part where Bai Buhui and the others had cornered the medical students.
The little ghost had been extremely aggressive, grabbing the male student by the collar. The couple's faces had been full of fear.
"They can slander and insult me online all they want. But they cannot hurt my guests inside my haunted house." Chen Ge pointed at the pitiful-looking couple on the big screen. "Thanks to all of you, the haunted house has reached this level. Their deliberate attack on other visitors has crossed the line. Tomorrow, I will personally go to Virtual Future Paradise and demand an explanation. I've heard they've also built a haunted house there, so tomorrow I'll go in alone to tour it, streaming the entire challenge live. Anyone who wants to watch, feel free to follow my account."
The viewership of Liu Kang's livestream had already reached absurd levels. After all, a streamer broadcasting himself getting slapped in the face and livestreaming himself straight into the hospital was a rare sight indeed.
Chen Ge intended to ride this wave of attention to build momentum for tomorrow. His real target was Virtual Future Paradise.
The haunted house was New Century Amusement Park's signature attraction. If that edge was stolen by a competitor, the park would have no chance of turning things around. So Chen Ge decided to snip this budding threat at the root, leaving them no opportunity whatsoever.
New Century Amusement Park had been around for ten years already, and precious few people believed in it. To save the park, Chen Ge had to give it everything he had.
Liu Kang's livestream ended there. Chen Ge figured that since everyone had fainted, there was no one left to even point the camera at, so he left it in the staff break room. When Chang Gu woke up, it might come in handy for filming.
All thirteen visitors had been scared into unconsciousness. The haunted house's four-star scenario had already become a legend.
Everyone was dying to know what was inside the four-star scenario, but the problem was that every person involved had passed out — not one of them could spill the details of the interior design.
More importantly, when it came to other haunted houses on the market, you could send a few people in and more or less figure out the contents. But Chen Ge's four-star scenario? Nobody dared go in right now.
Even those visitors who had previously entered the three-and-a-half-star scenario had lost their nerve. They were longtime fans of the haunted house, and they absolutely did not buy Chen Ge's claim that the difficulty had only been raised "a little."
The crowd packed outside the haunted house didn't disperse until noon. Chen Ge saw that no one else was going to attempt the four-star scenario, so he let some of the ghost employees return to their respective areas.
As more and more scenarios were unlocked in the haunted house, it was becoming obvious that the staff was in short supply.
"Living staff must be reliable. Vicious ghosts must be reasonable." Chen Ge sat in the staff break room, pulling up his black phone and scrolling through it. He stared at the spinning wheel powered by visitors' scream points, his finger hovering slowly. "I've already spun out four vicious ghosts. One more and my title will upgrade. I need employees, but once the title levels up, will it trigger some kind of anomaly?"
His finger tapped the desk. Chen Ge narrowed his eyes. "The haunted house has already accumulated a truly staggering amount of scream points. Should I go all in and take a big gamble? The title will upgrade anyway, so I might as well put it all in and spin a few extra times. Maybe I'll get something other than vicious ghosts."
Getting something other than vicious ghosts would be great, but Chen Ge was terrified that every single spin would come back as vicious ghosts. That would be catastrophic!
"Forget it. I'll go to Virtual Future Paradise tomorrow and try a few spins there. Can't force it." Chen Ge abandoned that dangerous thought. He lay down on the bed and was just about to rest when
"Little Chen, are you really going to Virtual Future Paradise by yourself tomorrow? I assumed you'd bring some employees along." Director Luo was worried about Chen Ge's safety.
"I'll be fine. I may look like I'm going alone, but there are plenty of forces backing me up." Chen Ge wasn't too concerned. "Director Luo, how did we do today business-wise? How do we compare to Virtual Future Paradise?"
"Visitor numbers and revenue are both a bit lower than theirs, but the gap isn't huge." Director Luo looked fairly confident. "The next few days are critical! As long as we get through this peak season, we'll have enough capital. Then we can upgrade our equipment and do a lot more."
"Good to hear."
