Chapter 939: Just a Little Bit Scary

January 17, 2020 · 4 min read · 775 words

If you divided the amount of fright a living person could withstand into ten levels, Liu Kang felt like he was currently somewhere around level one hundred.

He didn't know when he'd passed out. All he knew was that the moment he lost consciousness, a long-forgotten sense of bliss washed over him.

"If I could, I'd just like to sleep like this forever, and never open my eyes again…"

Boom!

The door was flung open. Countless ghosts poured into the room, then calmly lined up on either side.

Footsteps echoed from the distance. , wearing Teacher Bai's teaching certificate around his neck, walked over. He'd left the camera outside the Blood-Red Campus, and now held only a phone in his hand.

"One minute and three seconds — you'll need to work harder. Try to compress the scare time to under one minute." Chen Ge walked up to Liu Kang. "The Blood-Red Campus is very similar to the world beyond the gate. It's best used as a trump card, so try not to let visitors linger here too long."

Even though they were on opposite sides, even though they were adversaries, Chen Ge still cared about Liu Kang.

"The tour time is sixty minutes, and it's not up yet. Everyone, help me get them to the campus infirmary so Doctor Wei can check them out."

Old Bai cracked his dislocated hand back into place and dragged Liu Kang out of the classroom.

After giving a few instructions, Chen Ge turned to the Red High Heels. "The resentment and hatred that build up in visitors' hearts are exactly what you need. Siphoning negative emotions from their minds this way is simple and effective, and it can be done repeatedly. I'm not trying to convince you to stay — I'm just telling you this so that if you ever decide to leave, you'll be able to take care of yourself."

Seeing that the Red High Heels' reaction wasn't too intense, Chen Ge finally left.

Back at the campus infirmary, Chen Ge could hear Doctor Wei grumbling before he even reached the door. He wisely stood outside for a while before going in.

"Old man, how are they doing?"

"I have to ask — are you running a haunted house or a hospital? Visitors come for a tour, and you want me to give them all a full checkup before sending them out?"

"These ones got a little lucky," Chen Ge said casually.

"They're all fine. That fellow called Big Ghost could hear our voices because a dead person's lingering obsession had taken shelter in his ear. That obsession nearly had its soul scattered to pieces from fright when it came to our haunted house. Just now, under the persuasion of us doctors, it dissipated."

"You really are something, doctor — cured him just by talking."

"Get out of here! And hurry up and get them away!"

With the haunted house staff helping out, all twelve visitors were escorted to the entrance of the ghost school. Chen Ge urgently dispatched several transport carts from the underground morgue and wheeled them all out of the underground set.

Looking at the visitors sprawled across the corridor, Chen Ge felt a slight headache coming on. If other visitors passing back and forth saw this scene, it would probably give them a serious scare.

He pulled out his phone and called Zhang Jingjiu. "Old Zhang, did you record Liu Kang's livestream?"

"Relax. From start to finish, every second was recorded," Zhang Jingjiu said, ever the professional.

"Send me the clip where Liu Kang dropped the camera and ran for his life. Oh, and the part where they got into it with the medical school students and chased them — send me that too."

"OK."

A dozen seconds later, Zhang Jingjiu sent the edited clips to Chen Ge.

After confirming the footage, Chen Ge put away his phone, loaded the visitors onto the carts, and whistled a tune as he pushed them toward the exit.

The wheels of the transport carts creaked and groaned against the floor. Chen Ge lifted the thick black curtain at the entrance of the haunted house.

Sunlight spilled in, gilding the edges of the carts in gold, like countless gentle hands stroking the sleeping faces.

"He's out! Boss Chen is out!"

"He's coming! He's coming! He's pushing the transport carts over!"

"Are those the visitors who went into the four-star scenario?! Oh my God — three of them are unconscious!"

The visitors still in line erupted in commotion. Those who'd just bought their tickets and were about to enter abandoned any thought of the tour and crowded over.
