Chapter 92: The Entrustment

January 17, 2020 · 4 min read · 740 words

The scene before him was enough to shock even , a haunted house owner. The Muyang High School horror scene was much larger than the Midnight Escape area. Stepping inside, the yin energy was thick and chilling, as if something could leap out of the darkness at any moment, instinctively making one feel uneasy.

"Four classrooms, hallways, bathrooms, offices..."

Everything that existed at Muyang High School, Chen Ge's haunted house had as well—only the layout had been completely rearranged, concentrating all the rooms together.

Walking down the dim corridor, Chen Ge periodically turned to glance at the classrooms on either side.

Outside the windows were solid cement walls. The doors had no locks, and even though no wind was blowing, they kept producing creaking sounds.

The first few classrooms were eerie but still within an acceptable range. When Chen Ge reached the last classroom at the end of the hallway, every hair on his body stood on end. This was the first time he had felt such a sense of horror inside his own haunted house.

This classroom bore a strong resemblance to the final classroom at Muyang High School, but it wasn't entirely the same.

Every desk was densely covered with words carved in red paint. What was even more terrifying was that every chair held a dark school uniform.

The uniforms were the same style as those worn by the students in the group photo from 's home. The only difference was that in the photo, all the students wore their uniforms with their backs to the camera, while in this classroom, all the uniforms faced the doorway—faced Chen Ge.

Drawing a sharp breath, Chen Ge steeled himself and entered the classroom. He stood at the podium, looking down at rows upon rows of dark uniforms on the chairs, as though rows of people were standing there.

"Why are there uniforms only in this classroom? Could these uniforms represent the lingering wills of those trapped here?" Chen Ge lowered his head and counted. There were twenty-four uniforms in the classroom.

"The Midnight Escape trial has been completed, and the Midnight Escape scene in the haunted house has become the new home for Yin Xiaoxiao's family. If I follow that line of reasoning..." Chen Ge's expression grew grim. The twenty-four uniforms in this last classroom very likely represented twenty-four souls wandering here, unwilling to leave.

"That's not necessarily the case—maybe I'm overthinking it." Chen Ge stepped out of the classroom, closed the door, and continued forward.

At the end of the corridor, around the corner, was the bathroom. Just ahead appeared the first fork in the path—the left road led to the office area, and the right road led to the girls' dormitory.

Chen Ge first took a few steps to the right. The corridor narrowed, the rooms on both sides pressed close together, and at the end of the path, it split into two even narrower corridors.

"Just the first two-star scene, and it's already this complex. If I unlock a few more horror scenes, this underground parking lot might really end up being turned into a labyrinth of terror."

He casually pushed open a door. Inside was arranged like a crime scene.

It was worth mentioning that in the second-to-last dormitory room, Chen Ge found several chairs arranged together, with some sheets of paper and a severely damaged ballpoint pen resting on top.

"Is this the hidden item rewarded for unlocking Muyang High School?" Chen Ge cradled the pitiful-looking ballpoint pen in his palm—it would crack and splinter the moment he picked it up. "Hidden items must have their own special purpose. Wang Qi's missing person notice let me become friends with Yin Xiaoxiao's family, allowing me to command them to help manage the Midnight Escape scene. Could this ballpoint pen be the key to dealing with the students in that last classroom?"

Chen Ge racked his brain but couldn't figure it out. After thinking for a long while, he took the pen out of the Muyang High School scene and used clear tape to piece it back together.

"Pen spirit, pen spirit, I know you hold a grudge against me. I've already fixed the pen for you. If you've forgiven me, please draw a circle on the paper."

"Pen spirit, pen spirit, you are my past life, and I am your present life. Are you there? Your present life has something to ask you..."
