Xiao Gu walked over as well. "That's right, Boss. I'm not particularly skilled, and I haven't had much education, but if you ever need help, just say the word and I'll get it done."
"Why are you two being so sentimental?" Chen Ge snapped out of it, his expression softening considerably. "Our haunted house is doing great. We've already made a name for ourselves beyond Jiujiang, across the entire south-central region. Who knows — maybe one day we'll even be hosting international visitors. The future is full of promise. Just follow my lead and work hard. That's all you need to worry about."
He sent Xu Wan and Xiao Gu off for the day, then entered the haunted house and made his way through the underground sets for another round. Every ghost was exactly where it should be — no incidents had occurred.
"You've all been on good behavior, but this isn't a long-term solution." Chen Ge walked through the Muyang High School set. "To keep every malevolent ghost in the haunted house under control, my own strength has to be overwhelming.
Xu Yin hadn't fully emerged from his own world yet — emotionally vacant. Even if Chen Ge gave direct orders, he'd probably figure that as long as no one actually died, everything was fine.
As for Zhang Ya — Chen Ge himself was afraid of that one. If she were put in charge of the haunted house, it would be a miracle if tourists walked out alive.
He stopped at the door of the last classroom and looked at the figures inside. A suitable candidate came to mind.
"When I did the trial mission at Muyang High School, I noticed that besides the students in the last classroom, there was also a plump elderly man. He was standing at the podium, and I think he even smiled at me."
"Muyang High School used to be an orphanage. That round old man I briefly crossed paths with was probably the old principal of Muyang High School."
"He took in so many children during his lifetime and funded the construction of Muyang High School out of his own pocket. His character was unquestionable."
Chen Ge's gaze swept over the figures in the last classroom. The figures sitting inside trembled, not knowing what they'd done wrong. Every one of them felt that the person standing outside the door was terrifying.
"The old principal was kind-hearted, already familiar with the twenty-four figures, and most importantly, he'd managed an entire school — he had extensive experience in management."
Chen Ge stroked his chin and narrowed his eyes. "Isn't this exactly the talent I need? Looks like I'll have to make another trip to Muyang High School. I'll visit three times if I have to, but I'm bringing him back."
That old principal might still hold other secrets, but Chen Ge was feeling confident now — he had Xu Yin and
A faint smile hung on his face as he addressed the figures in the classroom: "It won't be long before I bring him here, so the lot of you can be reunited."
Hearing Chen Ge's words, the figures inside the classroom seemed even more frightened.
After that, he entered the Third Ward and the Living
Once he'd confirmed everything was in order, Chen Ge emerged from underground and looked at the wooden plank covering the passage. "When I get the chance, I'll swap it out for an iron door. That way, tourists probably won't be thinking about halfway exits."
Back in the rest room, Chen Ge laid Little Little down on the bed.
That ability of Little Little's seemed to take a severe toll on her. After using it that afternoon, Little Little hadn't communicated with Chen Ge at all since — she was just lying there like an ordinary cloth doll.
"Soothing malevolent ghosts, purifying souls… Little Little's ability could prove incredibly useful down the road."
Chen Ge lay down next to Little Little. Before long, the white cat leaped off the table and squeezed in beside them.
It seemed to sense that Little Little was feeling off. It gently curled its tail around her, drawing her close against its body.
"When the white cat first came to my haunted house, it was incredibly fierce. It was only because of Little Little that it eventually calmed down and became obedient. When I think about it that way, Little Little really is something special."
