Chapter 984: Did You Get Lost Too?

January 17, 2020 · 5 min read · 971 words

In the Profound Continent, spatial artifacts were essentially limited to Cosmos Bags.

Only a few leaders of the Ancient Demon Clan possessed spatial rings, and those had been forged by the Great Demon God himself using scraps of soul-suppressing stone — a mere two or three in total.

The value of those two or three rings was countless times greater than any Cosmos Bag.

Yet Yang Kai had discovered that the very first person he encountered in the Star Domain already possessed a spatial artifact shaped like a bracelet. Without a doubt, the value of this bracelet-form spatial artifact was at least on par with the rings worn by the Ancient Demon Clan's commanders — perhaps even beyond.

Could it be that in the vast expanse of the Star Domain, spatial artifacts of this form were as common as Star Shuttles?

Yang Kai quietly studied the little beauty's wrist and noticed she wasn't wearing a bracelet, but on her index finger sat a ring that emitted the same energy fluctuation as the bracelet.

Sure enough, she too possessed a spatial artifact far more advanced than a Cosmos Bag.

What puzzled Yang Kai, however, was that the material of their spatial artifacts was not soul-suppressing stone, but something else entirely — something unknown.

"What are you looking at? Sneaking glances like that — how contemptible." He Miao noticed Yang Kai's eyes darting about and immediately jumped to the wrong conclusion, thinking he was scheming something. Her expression turned indignant as she snapped at him.

"My apologies." Yang Kai straightened his face and slowly shook his head. "I truly don't know what a star chart is. I've never even heard of one."

"Never heard of it?" Even the elder sister now wore a look of disbelief, a trace of irritation surfacing on her lovely face.

"Sister, stop wasting words with him. He's clearly one of theirs — stalling for time. Our location may already be exposed. Let's just take his star chart and leave. He's only at the first level of the Sacred Lord realm — no match for us anyway."

A flicker of temptation crossed the elder sister's face, but she didn't act immediately, still showing some hesitation.

She clearly wasn't the type to be unreasonable.

"Wait!" Yang Kai raised his hand and called out loudly. "Shouldn't you at least explain what this star chart is? I genuinely have no idea."

Seeing Yang Kai's completely serious expression, the elder sister couldn't help but harbor some doubts of her own.

His words were certainly bizarre, but if a person could lie with this level of conviction, it would be almost inconceivable. She hadn't sensed the slightest flaw in his demeanor or the fluctuations of his spiritual sense.

"Where do you come from?" the elder sister asked after a moment of deliberation.

"Would it be all right if I didn't say?" Yang Kai frowned. He had come to the Star Domain alone for two reasons: to find Su Yan's whereabouts, and to find a way out for the Profound Continent's future.

Compared to the vast Star Domain, the Profound Continent was incredibly remote. If its location were exposed, it could draw the covetous gaze of powerful cultivators.

Yang Kai had no intention of mentioning the Profound Continent by name.

"I can only say that I come from a small place." He shrugged.

"A low-level continent?" The elder sister arched a delicate brow, seemingly inclined to believe him. Only someone from a low-level continent could be ignorant of what a star chart was.

"You could say that," Yang Kai agreed, playing along.

"If it's not too much trouble, may I see your Star Shuttle?" the elder sister requested.

"Of course." Yang Kai smiled, and under the command of his spiritual sense, the Star Shuttle beneath his feet transformed into a streak of azure light, flying straight toward her.

Yang Kai hovered in midair.

Although their acquaintance had been brief, they'd exchanged few words, and he knew nothing of the two women's true nature, he felt they weren't unreasonable people. Otherwise, given their cultivation levels, they would have attacked him at the slightest disagreement long ago. There was no need for them to waste time talking with him.

The elder sister raised her hand and caught the Star Shuttle. But rather than examining Yang Kai's flight artifact, the two sisters stared at him with wide eyes, their expressions filled with disbelief.

A gleam of astonishment passed through both pairs of beautiful eyes.

Yang Kai looked himself up and down, finding nothing unusual, wondering why they were acting as if they'd seen a ghost.

"Sister — this man has no Star Shuttle protecting him, and he didn't even deploy any defensive artifacts. How is he enduring the pressure of the Starry Sky? Isn't he only at the first level of the Sacred Lord realm?" He Miao whispered in shock, her face pale with disbelief.

"And he hasn't even activated the power within his body…" The elder sister was equally stunned. "His physical body is this powerful?"

"Could he be concealing his cultivation? Maybe he's actually a Sacred King or above?" He Miao voiced a possibility, and the moment the words left her mouth, her face turned chalk-white.

"Doesn't seem like it…"

The two sisters whispered back and forth in hushed tones. Yang Kai couldn't make out what they were saying and couldn't help but call out, "Are you done yet?"

The elder sister blinked, suddenly remembering she was still holding his Star Shuttle. She hurriedly extended her spiritual sense and probed the interior of the artifact, then slowly shook her head at her sister, a look of disappointment on her face.

She returned the Star Shuttle to Yang Kai, and with an odd expression said, "If you don't have a star chart, how did you get here?"
