After investigating his surroundings, Yang Kai's expression turned grim as dark water.
He had discovered that, without realizing it, he had wandered into the forbidden zone of a star field.
Even a powerhouse at the Saint King Realm wouldn't dare set foot here lightly. Every correct route marked on the star charts gave this place a wide berth.
The beautiful stars surrounding him shimmered with a captivating luster, but they also harbored enormous danger.
That danger wasn't merely the chaotic domain fields that could send one lost and disoriented—there was something far more terrifying. The woman hadn't told him in her divine sense light sphere exactly what that terror was, but Yang Kai knew deep down that it was enough to cost him his life.
He found himself plunged once more into a state of helpless bewilderment, uncertain of which way to turn.
After absorbing and sorting through the information the woman had left behind, Yang Kai remained in place, deep in thought for a good while, before finally commanding his star shuttle to seek a path out.
He refused to give up. He had only just arrived in this vast star field and hadn't yet witnessed its true splendor.
Time passed. He fixed on a direction and burned through his power without restraint, flying forward with everything he had.
But it seemed there was never an end. No matter how long he flew, he remained trapped in the center of those countless beautiful stars.
He couldn't help but develop the eerie illusion that he was circling endlessly around a single point!
The chaotic domain fields interfered with his sense of direction and his judgment of position. The direction he believed to be correct was often nothing more than futile effort.
Stars flickered. The starry sky stretched into the infinite. Yang Kai had no idea how long he had been drifting here.
Perhaps one or two months. Perhaps a year or more. He had lost all concept of time's passage.
It had been so long that his cultivation realm had steadily advanced. In that dense energy environment, he was rapidly pushing toward the second level of the Transcendence Realm—his power was climbing faster than he had ever imagined.
At last, he found some small joy to soothe the unease in his heart.
He secretly felt that staying here wasn't as bad as he'd thought. As long as he kept searching, he would eventually find a way out.
One day, Yang Kai sat cross-legged on his star shuttle, letting it drift forward on its own while he meditated and cultivated.
His mind was now calm as still water, no longer as tense as at the beginning. Since he couldn't find a way out for the time being, he might as well take the opportunity to strengthen himself. He believed that even across the entire star field, this kind of cultivation environment was extraordinarily rare.
As long as his strength was sufficient, he could break through the confusion and restraint of these chaotic domain fields.
Two fluctuations of divine soul and two life signatures suddenly registered in his perception.
It was the two sisters he had encountered before!
Yang Kai's eyes snapped open, his expression turning strange.
He hadn't expected to run into them again. They, too, seemed to have never found their way out, lost in this Abyss of Chaos.
At the moment, they were resting on a massive meteorite, no longer flying onward. They simply let the meteorite carry them aimlessly through the void.
The two of them were the only living beings Yang Kai had encountered on this entire journey. A subtle feeling of kinship arose in him.
After a moment's thought, he steered his star shuttle toward the meteorite where they sat.
A short while later, Yang Kai landed on the meteorite and looked around, but couldn't spot them. He did, however, notice the entrance to a cave not far away.
What were they doing hiding in there? Yang Kai frowned.
He walked straight to the cave mouth and called out, "You're in there, aren't you?"
"Come in and talk!" The elder sister's voice drifted out from inside. They had already identified Yang Kai from his life signature and held no guard or wariness.
Yang Kai ducked into the cave and ventured deeper, navigating nine bends and eighteen turns through multiple changes in direction, before finally catching sight of two blurry figures sitting cross-legged not far ahead, leaning against each other.
Both women seemed low in spirits. Yang Kai could faintly sense that the younger sister called He Miao was particularly despondent, as though the despair of being lost in this Abyss of Chaos weighed heavily upon her.
"We meet again," the elder sister said, giving Yang Kai a slight nod.
"We do." Yang Kai grinned, even though there was nothing cheerful about it. "What are you two doing hiding in here? Is there some danger?"
"No danger. We just don't want to waste our strength and sacred energy out there. Haven't you noticed that you don't need to circulate your power to resist the erosion of the starry sky's force when you're hiding in here?"
Only after she mentioned it did Yang Kai realize. He focused his senses and confirmed that the starry sky's power pervading the entire star field indeed couldn't penetrate this place. Staying here was remarkably effortless.
"We've used up all our sacred crystals and pills, so we can only hide here," the younger sister He Miao said in a faint, hollow voice. This time around, she was nothing like the spirited, mischievous girl she had been before—her expression was dim and somber.
"Used up?" Yang Kai was startled.
"We've been lost here for a very long time," the elder sister explained. "If we go back out and still can't find a way, once our power is exhausted, all that awaits us is death."
"You two really have it rough…" Yang Kai understood their situation and couldn't help but sigh.
"What are you gloating for…" He Miao sniffled, her tone sharp with bitterness.
"Am I?" Yang Kai blinked in surprise.
"You are!"
