Chapter 983: Great Beauty, Little Beauty

January 17, 2020 · 5 min read · 1,007 words

Standing atop the meteorite, Yang Kai's expression was one of excitement as he surveyed his surroundings in every direction.

Everywhere, there were traces left behind by living beings!

On this very meteorite, there were traces of living beings having been there!

Yang Kai was beside himself with excitement. He had nearly fallen into a state of bewilderment, not knowing where to go or what to do — yet at this most critical juncture, he had found information that set his spirits soaring.

His gaze turned resolute in an instant, the earlier look of confusion completely gone, and he began to carefully examine these traces.

The meteorite he stood on was nearly as large as a small mountain, and nearby, countless other meteorites of varying sizes were scattered about, forming an ocean of rock that drifted endlessly through the star field, propelled by the storms of the starry sky.

The surface of this enormous meteorite was riddled with pits and craters — not natural formations, but rather the aftermath of violent energy impacts. There were also clean, sharp cuts as though carved by blades.

Someone had fought here!

Yang Kai understood at once. Moreover, judging from the traces, the battle had not taken place too long ago — perhaps ten-odd days prior, or perhaps a month or two. At most, it could not have been more than three months, otherwise the raging star field storms would have long since smoothed them away.

Yang Kai could almost picture the scene of that fierce battle. What surprised him most was that the combatants' strength did not seem to be particularly high.

This put his mind at ease. Having just arrived, he had been wary of encountering some terrifyingly powerful expert.

His gaze pierced through the onrushing star field storm, looking deeper into the starry sky beyond. Then he guided his star shuttle and sped rapidly in the opposite direction of the storm.

The storm had come from that direction, which meant the beings who had fought on the meteorite might still be that way.

The odds were slim, but it was worth a try.

Yang Kai flew at full speed, extending his divine sense as far as possible, missing no meteorite that brushed past him.

Among those meteorites, he did indeed find more clues. Every sign pointed to the fact that he was drawing ever closer to the beings he was tracking.

He pushed the star shuttle even harder.

He did not know how much time had passed when, after passing through a stretch of dark, frozen starry sky, his vision suddenly brightened before him. He stared ahead in a daze.

Ahead, across the vast expanse of the star field, another boundless star region spread out before his eyes.

The starry sky was beautiful. Countless stars shimmered with captivating luster, radiating vibrant vitality. It was as though he had arrived at the other end of the cosmos — this side's beauty stood in stark contrast to the deathly silence behind him.

Stars both great and small had existed in this region since time immemorial, orbiting around a central point in a particular pattern, their colors painting the entire star domain with dazzling light.

Some stars burned like fire, radiating searing power. Yang Kai had no doubt that the might contained within those stars was enough to make any living being turn back — they would not even dare approach.

Anyone who drew near would be melted alive.

Yet the scorching energy that poured into Yang Kai's body filled him with extraordinary comfort and ease — it was the power of Yang.

Other stars were supremely cold. Their entire bodies resembled enormous ice spheres, wreathed in freezing mist that blanketed the frozen surfaces, forming a visible field of frigid energy spanning hundreds of thousands of kilometers around each one.

That aura seemed poised to freeze the entire universe solid.

Still other stars were a deep, vivid green, utterly unlike the rest. They were not spherical but umbrella-shaped, resembling colossal trees that radiated a rich, woody aura.

They stood proud among the stars like titanic trees rooted in the cosmos.

Yang Kai's eyes dazzled, unable to take it all in.

He was finally witnessing with his own eyes the splendor of the Star Domain.

The immense energies emanating from the various stars converged throughout this vast region, making the spiritual energy contained here inconceivably dense.

Any blessed land or sacred ground on the Profound Continent paled in comparison.

A single year of Cultivation here could rival several times — even ten or more times — the progress made elsewhere.

Yang Kai's pores opened of their own accord. He closed his eyes and greedily absorbed the heaven-and-earth spiritual energy permeating his surroundings, his flesh and blood churning with vitality, his expression one of pure bliss.

He was even tempted to seclude himself here for a period of intensive Cultivation. He knew the idea was somewhat impractical, yet he could not bring himself to abandon the rich energy this place offered.

Just as he was caught in this dilemma, the divine sense he had extended outward suddenly detected signs of another living being entering the area.

Yang Kai retracted his divine sense in a flash and opened his eyes, looking toward that direction with delight.

He had spotted them — and they seemed to have spotted him as well, for the very next moment after he withdrew his sensing, two additional streams of divine sense, no weaker than his own, swept toward his position.

Two people! And their strength was not particularly high — only at the first or second level of the Saint Realm.

This was truly the Star Domain. Even a chance encounter yielded two Saint Realm cultivators. Yang Kai could not help but marvel — though their level of cultivation also put him at ease. Even if those two harbored hostile intentions, he would not be entirely without the means to fight back.

With that thought, Yang Kai promptly steered his star shuttle toward the pair's location and flew straight over.
