Chapter 2459: As Long As You're Not Dead

January 17, 2020 · 5 min read · 999 words

Inside the Void Tunnel, Yang Kai moved as if traversing flat ground, advancing swiftly while utterly ignoring the omnipresent void currents and flickering spatial rifts.

This place might be fraught with danger for others, but for Yang Kai, it was as familiar as his own backyard. Back when he had been Cultivating spatial power, he had entered places like this countless times—sensing the mysteries of space, experiencing the marvels of spatial energy. He had long since figured out every characteristic of such an environment.

Less than an hour after parting ways with Lan He, Yang Kai suddenly felt a slight warmth on the back of his hand—the resonance between star marks. His expression shifted, and he immediately dashed off in a particular direction.

His current star mark was a hexagram, considered a relatively high-grade one, which meant he could sense the positions of most warriors from a considerable distance.

Before long, he arrived at the spot, but when he looked up, the scene that greeted him made his brow furrow.

The area ahead was awash with carnage. Countless severed limbs and chunks of flesh bobbed up and down in the churning void undercurrent, and not a single living person could be seen.

However, seven or eight unowned star marks floated silently amid the carnage.

Seven or eight star marks—that meant seven or eight people had died here. They hadn't been killed by anyone. They had fallen into this Void Tunnel, swallowed by the void undercurrent or shredded by the spatial rifts.

As Yang Kai approached, those unowned star marks seemed drawn by some invisible force, all shooting toward the back of his hand. They dissolved into specks of starlight and branded themselves into his skin, making his hexagram mark burn brighter and warmer.

He couldn't help but grow somewhat worried.

Earlier, everyone had been swallowed into this place when the space collapsed, their fates unknown. He didn't care about the life or death of most of them—the only person he was worried about was Yin Lesheng. That fellow had better not die before Yang Kai found him. If he did, Yang Kai would have no way to get the intelligence he needed.

Faint traces of resonance still reached him from up ahead.

Yang Kai pressed on without lingering.

The further he went, the more he encountered the corpses of warriors who had perished here, along with their residual star marks.

He didn't even need to do anything. As he walked the path, he had already collected over twenty star marks.

In other words, of the more than forty Source Realm warriors who had been swallowed into this place, half were already dead. And from what he could observe along the way, they had apparently been traveling together—probably trying to find an exit by heading in this direction. Unfortunately, without knowledge of spatial power, they couldn't break through the spatial barriers and had no way of finding the way out.

At this rate, the entire group would eventually be wiped out.

A faint cry suddenly reached Yang Kai's ears. His gaze sharpened, and he shot toward the source of the sound in an instant.

Moments later, he arrived before a surging void undercurrent.

Seeming to sense Yang Kai's arrival, the crying person immediately called out in his direction: "Friend, please help! Don't leave me—save me!"

Yang Kai remained impassive. His spiritual sense had already swept over the area and identified exactly who this was. He knew the man was trapped by the void undercurrent and would be swallowed entirely in just a little while.

"Where's Yin Lesheng?" Yang Kai asked flatly.

The man froze for a moment at the sound of his voice, then let out a low gasp: "Yang Kai?"

He had clearly recognized Yang Kai's voice as well.

"Where is Yin Lesheng?" Yang Kai pressed.

The man forced a bitter smile: "Brother Yang, get me out of here first, and we can discuss everything else."

Yang Kai let out a cold snort. "Chang Hao didn't even bother to save you—what makes you think I should?"

The man was none other than Chang Xian of the Fan Tian Holy Land. He and Chang Hao were both Holy Sons of the sect, and his strength was nothing to scoff at. But no matter how powerful he was, he was still only at the Dao Source Realm. Caught in a void undercurrent, there was nothing he could do but wait for death—the more he struggled, the faster he would die. There was no sign of Chang Hao here, which meant Chang Hao had already abandoned him.

"Chang Hao!" At the mention of that name, Chang Xian seemed to have a nerve struck. His teeth clenched, and he growled through gritted teeth: "Don't you dare speak that treacherous wretch's name in front of me! Sooner or later, I'll kill him!"

It was unclear what exactly had transpired between the two Holy Sons, but Chang Xian clearly hated Chang Hao to the bone.

Yang Kai had no intention of digging into the matter. He merely sneered: "We'll talk about that once you've actually gotten out of here."

Hearing this, Chang Xian's spirits plummeted to rock bottom. He pleaded desperately: "Brother Yang, you're a magnanimous man—don't hold a grudge against the likes of me. Please pull me out of here, and I, Chang Xian, will surely repay your kindness!"

"Tell me which direction Yin Lesheng went first," Yang Kai said coldly, fixing him with an icy stare.

Chang Xian asked: "You'll save me if I tell you?"

Yang Kai shot back: "What do you think?"

Chang Xian flushed with anger and blurted: "Then why should I tell you—?" The moment the words left his mouth, he seemed to realize he had no grounds for rage in his current situation and quickly added: "I spoke out of turn, Brother Yang. Please don't be upset."

Yang Kai snorted. "I have no intention of saving you, and I won't. No matter how much you say, it's useless!"
