Chapter 2458: Heavenly Wolf Valley of the Eastern Domain

January 17, 2020 · 5 min read · 1,072 words

After traveling through the Void Corridor with Lan He for a while, Yang Kai suddenly halted.

Lan He had no idea what had happened and didn't dare to rashly disturb him. She simply stood quietly off to the side.

After a moment, Yang Kai spoke: "This area is reasonably safe — the space here is fairly stable. Miss Lan He, you can rest here for a bit. I need to heal my injuries, and once I've recovered, I'll send you out."

"Send me out..." Lan He was momentarily stunned. But recalling how easily Yang Kai had rescued her before, her confidence in him surged, and she nodded. "Alright, don't worry about me — healing your injuries should be your priority. That Asura Earth Fiend has extremely corrosive power. The longer it lingers, the worse it will be."

Yang Kai extended his hand and channeled his Space Force, waving it several times around her position. "I've left spatial imprints here. If anything happens, I'll sense it immediately and come right away."

After saying that, he turned and darted off to a spot not far away.

Only after Yang Kai had departed did Lan He slowly cross her legs and sit down. She sent out her Spiritual Sense to probe the surroundings and confirmed that, just as Yang Kai had said, the space here was relatively stable — there was none of that strange force they had encountered earlier. She didn't dare wander off and could only stay put and wait.

Not far away, Yang Kai also sat cross-legged and pulled a large handful of healing pills from his Space Ring, popping them into his mouth like beans.

His current injuries weren't too severe — the damage from the Mountains and Rivers Bell's shockwave was already recovering rapidly. The only troublesome thing was that Asura Earth Fiend, which clung to his arm like a maggot burrowed into bone.

He would need to circulate his Source Power to force the Earth Fiend energy out of his body.

Fortunately, his Source Power was vast and refined. Even though this particular secret technique was formidable, it couldn't withstand his expulsion.

Time trickled by as Yang Kai gradually drove the Asura Earth Fiend's energy away, his expression focused and his movements methodical.

After roughly five or six days, he finally let out a heavy breath.

The Asura Earth Fiend had vanished completely. The corrosion wounds on his arm weren't fully healed yet, but with his formidable physique and recovery capabilities, such injuries were hardly worth mentioning.

Five or six days of recovery had also healed the damage from the Mountains and Rivers Bell's shockwave.

Yang Kai shook his arm, slowly stood up, and headed toward Lan He's position.

Before long, he arrived at her side and found her still sitting cross-legged where he had left her. The spatial imprints he had set up earlier showed no signs of having been triggered, indicating that the area had remained peaceful over the past few days, unaffected by the void's power.

Sensing Yang Kai's arrival, Lan He rose to her feet and asked: "Brother Yang, you've recovered?"

"Nothing to worry about now," Yang Kai replied with a smile.

"That's good!" Lan He let out a breath of relief. After a brief pause, she asked: "So we can leave now?"

"Of course. Come, I'll send you out."

Lan He caught the implication behind his words and said in surprise: "What about you? You're staying behind?"

Yang Kai smiled faintly and replied with confidence: "I'm very familiar with this place — there won't be any danger. I want to search for that Mountains and Rivers Bell. It fled into this Void Corridor too, and I have no idea where it ended up."

"Is that so!" Lan He knew she shouldn't press the matter. After all, she and Yang Kai weren't exactly close. "Then I wish Brother Yang success in your search."

"I'll take that blessing," Yang Kai said with a grin.

"Oh, right." Lan He suddenly remembered something. "You mentioned before that you had something you wanted to ask of me?"

Her reminder jogged Yang Kai's memory, and he slapped his forehead. "Right. I have a friend who set out from the Northern Domain a little over a year ago, heading toward your Heavenly Wolf Valley."

"Brother Yang's friend? Are they planning to join our Heavenly Wolf Valley? But why would they come from the Northern Domain?" Lan He was visibly surprised.

If they were a warrior from the Northern Domain, they would normally choose a sect there first. It made no sense to trek all the way to the Eastern Domain — the distance between the two great domains was immense, and without using one of those cross-domain spatial arrays, it could take years to arrive.

"It's a rather long story. Let's walk and talk." Yang Kai beckoned, leading Lan He toward the spot where the space was weakest while explaining as they went.

The friend he was speaking of, of course, was Ling Yinqin.

When he had first heard the Saint Son Chang Hao of the Brahma Heaven Holy Land mention Heavenly Wolf Valley, Yang Kai had felt that the name rang a bell — he was sure he had heard it somewhere before. But when he tried to recall, nothing came to mind. Then a flash of inspiration struck him, and he suddenly remembered.

Ling Yinqin had mentioned Heavenly Wolf Valley to him.

Ling Yinqin's deceased husband had been a Disciple of Heavenly Wolf Valley in the Eastern Domain! The two had met and fallen in love within the Silence Void Secret Realm, and later married. But her husband had perished while trying to save her, and Ling Yinqin had mourned him ever since.

The set of advanced Spirit Purification Arrays she had lent to Yang Kai had been purchased by her husband at great expense — they were a memento through which she kept his memory alive. That was precisely why Yang Kai had gone to such great lengths to have Sang De repair the array after it was damaged, which in turn had led to everything that followed.

When Ling Yinqin emerged from the Silence Void Secret Realm, she brought her husband's ashes with her. The last time they parted in the Northern Domain, she had said she intended to deliver the ashes to Heavenly Wolf Valley, so that her husband could be laid to rest at last.
