"This pool water is no joke — not only is it freezing cold, it's incredibly light, practically like air. My sixty points of Ice Resistance is already pretty high, yet it still froze my hand solid." Shi Feng stared at his hand, now encased in ice, and felt a chill run through him. "What kind of water is this?"
In Divine Realm, sixty points of Ice Resistance was more than enough to handle most cold environments without any adverse effects on a player.
Yet here, he couldn't even deal with a small pool. That alone spoke volumes about how extraordinary it was.
If someone told him there was nothing unusual about this little pool, Shi Feng wouldn't believe it even under threat of death.
He immediately pulled Dorren's Key from his backpack, wondering if it might trigger some kind of reaction.
But after circling the pool with the key in hand, nothing happened at all, and he couldn't find any keyhole or slot anywhere.
"Could it be inside the pool?" Shi Feng considered this and decided it was highly likely.
According to last-life statistics from Divine Realm, the vast majority of hidden encounters and treasures were stowed away in deadly zones. Only a select few could be obtained in safe locations, and those required either sufficient status or sheer luck.
Deadly zones were essentially forbidden territory for players — unless you had the right countermeasure, entering meant certain death.
The pool in front of him was clearly one such deadly zone. It made it impossible for players to get in; anyone who jumped in would freeze to death.
Shi Feng only survived because of his sixty points of Ice Resistance. Without it, even touching the water would inflict massive frost damage, killing him instantly. Even so, his hand had still been frozen solid, and it took over ten seconds before he could thaw it out.
If he jumped in, his entire body would be frozen. He wouldn't take any direct damage, but the water in this pool was extraordinarily light. Once frozen into an ice sculpture, he'd sink straight to the bottom with no way to float back up. In the end, he'd just drown…
"Now what?" Shi Feng gazed at the frigid water, thinking in silence. "If only I could boost my Magic Resistance a little higher."
Increasing a player's Magic Resistance was inherently difficult. At this stage of the game, no one had Magic Resistance gear — even if they did, it wouldn't make much of a difference. Shi Feng's sixty points came entirely from the Ice Blue Demonic Flame and the Golden Holy Mark. For most skilled players, even ten points would be impressive.
Of course, the fastest way to raise Magic Resistance was through potions. Even a basic Magic Resistance Potion could provide a meaningful boost. If he took a mid-tier one on top of his existing resistance, he might just be able to handle this freezing pool.
But Shi Feng didn't have any Magic Resistance Potions on him.
The recipe for even a basic Magic Resistance Potion only dropped from maps level twenty and above, and mid-tier recipes required maps level forty or higher.
There was no way for Shi Feng to get his hands on one right now, let alone a specialized Ice Resistance Potion.
But if he didn't enter the pool, where was he going to find the remaining thirty percent completion?
Yet entering the pool meant being frozen into an ice sculpture, completely immobile — and without any Ice Resistance Potions in his inventory, he was completely stuck.
"The freezing restriction effect is too troublesome. I wonder if the Phantasmal Realm from Magic Immunity would work." Shi Feng touched the pool water once more, activating the Phantasmal Ring's skill: Phantasmal Realm.
The moment Phantasmal Realm activated, the freezing effect on his hand showed no sign of wearing off.
"The Phantasmal Ring won't do. What about the Spatial Ring?"
Unwilling to give up, Shi Feng waited another minute, swapped to the Spatial Ring, and plunged his hand back into the pool.
