"In all of White River City, we're the top dogs. Even Zero Wing, the guild that's been riding high lately, has to bow down to us."
"Since you look new, I'll give you some advice—join us now. Why bother with some dead-end guild like Zero Wing?"
"Of course, if you don't want to join, that's fine too. Just pay five silver coins and we'll let you through."
The various guild members couldn't help but laugh and joke amongst themselves.
"Are you guilds really this pathetic? Too scared to go after Zero Wing, so instead you block the teleportation hall and bully players trying to join? Don't you find that laughable?" Shi Feng ignored their laughter and mockery.
"Kid, you looking to go against us?" The male assassin from Dark Star, Drunken Frenzy, sneered dismissively.
After he spoke, several First-Rank Citizens from the other guilds walked over as well.
These people were First-Rank Citizens. As long as they didn't harm players without reputation, even if some friction occurred, nothing would happen to them. They could drag whoever they wanted out of White River City, and what happened after that—kill or torture—was entirely up to them.
If someone dared to resist, even better. As long as they fought back, these players could retaliate and kill them on the spot.
It meant that whether someone resisted or not, the outcome was the same.
At that moment, Sword Shadow quietly said to Shi Feng, "Brother, thanks for stepping up. In a moment I'll charge in, and you seize the chance to escape. Once you're out of the teleportation hall, it'll be much harder for them to catch you. And if you make it into the city's high-level district, they won't be able to start anything even if they wanted to."
The different zones within a city had different rules. In ordinary districts, the guards didn't interfere with disputes between players. But in high-level districts or the Trade District, things were completely different. The same went for shops and restaurants. Even First-Rank Citizens would be thrown out—or even arrested and thrown in the lockup.
Shi Feng smiled and didn't heed Sword Shadow's advice. Instead, he walked forward, step by step, heading straight toward the Dark Star assassin, Drunken Frenzy.
"Why is this person like this?"
The female knight Turtledove had initially felt some favorable impression toward Shi Feng for standing up against injustice, but seeing him completely ignore Sword Shadow's warning, her opinion of him soured.
"Turtledove!" Sword Shadow said in a low voice, looking at her.
"Hmph. He won't listen to good advice and will have only himself to blame. Let's see what he does in a moment." Turtledove looked at Shi Feng's thin back and let out a soft snort.
However, Sword Shadow remained silent, quietly watching Shi Feng. He had a vague sense that this man was no ordinary person. Although Shi Feng had used a black cloak to conceal his appearance, level, and name, the composure of a true expert couldn't be hidden. And seeing Shi Feng's utterly calm demeanor, he was even more convinced that Shi Feng was a hidden powerhouse—which was why he had stopped Turtledove from intervening.
But good impressions aside, this was White River City—a place where absolutely no fighting was allowed. Experts were no exception.
"Hm, you really are courting death. Then let's have some fun with you."
Six players holding First-Rank Citizen status surrounded Shi Feng, ready to seize him and drag him away.
"Huh? What's going on?" one of them exclaimed.
There were six of them, yet no matter how hard they tried, Shi Feng didn't budge an inch, showing no reaction whatsoever.
"What's wrong with you guys? He's just a newcomer—why haven't you moved him yet?" Drunken Frenzy frowned.
He had been sent by Solitary Madness specifically to deal with outer-city players trying to join Zero Wing.
As Zero Wing grew more and more famous, plenty of people on the official forums had announced they were heading to White River City to join the guild.
This had made all the major guilds in White River City restless, especially Dark Star and Dominion.
Zero Wing was already troublesome enough. If top players from outside the city were allowed to join, the guild would become unstoppable. So the various guilds had banded together, sending members with high reputation to block the entrance.
