Feng Yu gazed deeply at Nie Li.
A hint of doubt stirred within her heart. The Sect Master spent years in closed-door cultivation, and even elders rarely caught sight of her. Moreover, whenever the Sect Master did appear, she concealed her true form. Only the most intimate of people could see the Sect Master as she truly was.
Outsiders had always assumed the Sect Master was male, but that was not the case at all. However, this fact was known to almost no one—not even Xu Long or Xu Hu, let alone most of the elders within the Demon God Sect.
How had Nie Li figured it out?
Anyone who had seen the Sect Master's true form was among those closest to her.
Could it be...
A flicker of suspicion crossed Feng Yu's mind. Was there some secret relationship between the Sect Master and this Nie Li?
" Sect Master Nie has never met our Sect Master, so how did you guess she was a woman?" Feng Yu asked with a smile.
"Your Sect Master and I are old acquaintances," Nie Li said with a grin. "Not only do I know she's a woman, I also know many secrets about her."
"Ha ha ha, Sect Master Nie is jesting. I'd very much like to hear what else you know," Feng Yu replied with a faint smile.
"Ha, well, there's plenty I know," Nie Li said cheerfully. "For instance, your Sect Master loves the pastries that Elder Feng Yu makes, and she often praised you for being so thoughtful."
At these words, Feng Yu's brows furrowed slightly. Such an intimate detail—how could the Sect Master have told Nie Li about it?
"Could it be that you possess a mind-reading technique?" Feng Yu tensed, fixing Nie Li with a grave stare.
"Ha ha, Elder Feng Yu is too kind. If I truly had a mind-reading technique and wanted to probe Elder Feng Yu's thoughts, with your level of cultivation, you would surely sense it," Nie Li laughed. "I not only know what Elder Feng Yu knows—I also know things that Elder Feng Yu doesn't."
"What things?" Feng Yu asked, frowning slightly.
"Elder Feng Yu, might I have a word in private?" Nie Li glanced at Xu Long and Xu Hu, hesitating for a moment.
Feng Yu appeared somewhat torn.
Xu Long and Xu Hu quickly spoke up. "Elder Feng Yu, don't let this fellow deceive you! He's cunning and deceitful."
"Whether Elder Feng Yu wants to hear it or not is entirely up to her," Nie Li said lightly, and turned to walk outside.
Feng Yu waved a hand. "I know what I'm doing. Say no more."
She soared through the air and landed beside Nie Li. With a flick of her right hand, a sealing formation slowly enveloped them both. Feng Yu glanced at Nie Li. "Go ahead. This is a sound-blocking formation."
"What I'm about to tell you must not come as a shock, Elder Feng Yu," Nie Li said, his gaze heavy with meaning.
"A shock? What could possibly shock me? Stop beating around the bush and just say it," Feng Yu frowned. A vague feeling crept over her that whatever Nie Li wanted to reveal concerned the Sect Master—and something of great weight. Her curiosity burned intensely.
"The truth is, I am your Sect Master's dao companion," Nie Li declared, affecting an air of profound mystery as he looked at Feng Yu.
