Ye Zong's beard trembled with rage — he was practically ready to strangle Nie Li. But as City Lord, he had to maintain some composure. Not only did he need Nie Li's help, but behind Nie Li stood a super powerhouse.
"And what if I break through this formation?" Ye Zong was, after all, a Black Gold Demon Spirit Master and had his own dignity. How could he tolerate such provocation?
"If you break through it, I'll call you Dad," Nie Li snorted.
Ye Zong glared at Nie Li — as if he'd even want Nie Li to call him Dad! Marry my daughter? Not a chance! "If I break through this formation, you stay away from my daughter from now on!"

Soul Power surged out of his body, and his hands rapidly formed seal after seal. The entire Taiyi Killing Formation suddenly began to tremble violently, and then the runic patterns on those stone pillars blazed with brilliant light.

Ye Zong felt a powerful wave of aura crash toward him, and his expression shifted slightly. The Taiyi Killing Formation really did have something to it. But having made the bet with Nie Li, he certainly wouldn't back down. With a furious roar, a massive wave of Soul Power exploded outward from his body.
Ye Zong's body rapidly grew larger, swelling several times its original size. His hands kept getting thicker, his entire body was covered in black scales, and a massive tail sprouted from his back, its tip wreathed in black flames.

The Demon Spirit Ye Zong had fused with was actually a Black-Scaled Earth Dragon. It belonged to the sub-dragon species and possessed a certain amount of dragon bloodline, second only to true dragons. Among all Demon Beasts, dragons stood at the very pinnacle — even the lowest-tier dragon-type creatures possessed at least Black Gold-level strength. Though sub-dragons only carried a tiny fraction of that bloodline, they were still tremendously powerful.
