's light was a golden-red, 's a brilliant gold, and on top of that there was the faint purple glow emanating from the Great Master. The entire wooden cabin was awash with shifting, kaleidoscopic light, creating an absolutely wondrous sight.

Nourished by the immortal herbs, the Shrek Seven Devils had all undergone changes in their strength.

Evil-Eyed — level forty.

Sausage Extraordinaire — level thirty-eight.

Thousand Hand — level thirty-seven.

Evil Fire Phoenix Ma Hongjun — level thirty-six.

Soft Bones Demon Rabbit — level thirty-five.

Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Ning Rongrong — level thirty-seven.

Nether Spirit Cat — level thirty-eight.

The Shrek Seven Devils had leapt from having just collectively stepped into the thirties to charging toward the forties. The entire process had been so brief that no one could have predicted it.

"Little San." The others were in the midst of their normal cultivation when Flandre's voice suddenly came from outside the cabin.

Tang San slowly opened his eyes and quietly slipped out of the wooden building.

"Headmaster Flandre, you were looking for me?" Tang San asked.

Flandre nodded. "Senior Dugu has brought along. He asked me to call you over — seems like there's something going on. Little San, be careful. That is an extremely dangerous man."

Tang San naturally understood what Dugu Bo wanted with him. He smiled faintly. "Headmaster Flandre, rest assured. Everything will be fine."

Flandre led Tang San out of the forest and into the main teaching area.

Since arriving at the academy, Tang San had never taken the time to properly observe his surroundings.

The main campus, while not as ornate as the Heaven Dou Imperial Academy, was highly practical. At the moment, quite a few students were scattered across the training grounds, chatting and exchanging tips with one another.

The two entered the main teaching building and made their way all the way to the innermost room on the top floor, where Tang San finally met Dugu Bo.

This location had been chosen at Dugu Bo's own request. He had always preferred solitude, and this place perfectly suited his needs. Opening the windows afforded a view of the vast expanse of woodland behind the building, and the fresh air he could breathe every day was something Dugu Bo genuinely enjoyed.

To make the old monster's stay more comfortable, Flandre had reluctantly spent a considerable sum renovating the quarters after Dugu Bo's arrival. As it stood now, the room actually had a rather lavish feel to it.

Inside the room, Dugu Bo was seated in a large armchair, gently rocking back and forth. He did not open his eyes until Tang San walked through the door, and when he did, he regarded the young man with a smile in his eyes. On the large bed nearby, Dugu Yan was leaning against the headboard, wearing a bored expression.

"Little Monster, you're here." Dugu Bo greeted Tang San of his own accord. At the same time, he waved a hand at Flandre, signaling that he could leave.

Flandre was indeed somewhat afraid of Dugu Bo. He patted Tang San on the shoulder, motioning for him to be careful, then exchanged a brief word with Dugu Bo and withdrew.

Now that Flandre was gone, Tang San certainly had no reason to stand on ceremony with Dugu Bo. He walked straight over to a sofa to one side and sat down.

From the moment Tang San had stepped through the door, Dugu Yan's fierce, hostile gaze had been fixed squarely on him. Tang San simply acted as though he didn't notice, treating her as though she were nothing more than air.

"Grandfather, why did you summon this little brat?" Dugu Yan said to Dugu Bo in a petulant tone. "You still haven't told me why you insisted on coming to this awful academy to serve as some sort of consultant. If you were going to take on that role, you should have gone to our Heaven Dou Imperial Academy!"
