Chapter 2308: Third-Tier Abyssal

As soon as Shi Feng finished clicking through the system interface, the Abyssal in his hand behaved like a starving wolf, instantly transforming into a mass of black fog that lunged toward all of the Magic Origin Crystals.

The energy purity of Magic Origin Crystals within the Divine Realm was second only to Seven Luminaries Crystals — each one contained enough magical power to level an entire small town. One hundred Magic Origin Crystals devoured by the Abyssal in a single gulp produced a terrifying wave of energy that made the entire space tremble. Dragon roars echoed across the whole island, as though the space itself might erupt at any moment, with some colossal dragon bursting out from within.

"Is it going to backlash?" Shi Feng's expression was grim.

Magic Artifacts weren't like normal weapons or equipment — each upgrade carried the risk of a backlash, and each backlash was more severe than the last. If the wielder couldn't suppress it, they would be crippled for life.

He had believed his current strength would make suppressing the second backlash a near certainty, but judging by the current fluctuations, he estimated he had at most fifty or sixty percent confidence of holding out.

Fortunately, the energy fluctuations were brief.

In just two or three seconds, everything returned to calm. Before Shi Feng, a pitch-black blade materialized silently, dragon patterns etched along its edge.

The instant the blade appeared, even though Shi Feng was still four or five yards away, a powerful wave of dragon pressure bore down on him, making his entire body feel heavy. The ground beneath his feet even sank noticeably.

The Abyssal. One-handed sword. Magic Artifact.

Required Level: 80. Upgradeable (devour forty Level 85 Dark Gold weapons to upgrade to Level 85). Third-tier Evolvable (requires devouring five Divine Crystals to evolve to fourth-tier).

Innate Skill 1 — Phantom Kill (Third Tier): Instantly creates a clone possessing 95% of the wielder's attributes and all skills. Duration: 120 seconds. Cooldown: 5 minutes.

Innate Skill 2 — Abyssal Bind (Third Tier): Simultaneously binds up to five enemies, rendering them unable to move or cast magic skills, reducing both physical defense and magic resistance by 100%. Duration: 5 seconds. The higher the tier of the bound target, the weaker the effect. Cooldown: 40 seconds.

Innate Skill 3 — Nine-Headed Dragon Slash (Third Tier): Instantly generates twenty-one phantom copies of the Abyssal for the wielder to use. Each phantom blade deals 90% damage. Duration: 60 seconds. Cooldown: 8 minutes.

Innate Skill 4 — Abyssal Curse (Third Tier): Targets within a 100-yard radius cannot move or attack for 6 seconds. Afterwards, their attributes and stamina decrease by 20% for 10 minutes. When only one target is within range, the effect is doubled. Cooldown: 30 minutes.

Innate Skill 5 — Dragon Soul (Third Tier): Bestows a dragon's soul upon the phantom clone, transforming it into a black dragon. The clone shares the black dragon's life tier and can use Dragon Breath. Duration: 5 minutes. Cooldown: 24 hours.

Innate Secret Art Inheritance — Black Emperor (Third Tier): When dealing critical damage to a target, accumulates one stack of Death Aura. Each stack can be consumed to increase all attributes by 4% and attack speed and movement speed by 3% for 12 seconds, or to reduce the cooldown of one skill by 5 seconds. Maximum of 27 stacks. Duration: 10 minutes. Cooldown: 6 hours.

Innate Passive Skill — Abyssal Will: The higher the ambient magical energy density of the wielder's environment, the greater the boost to physical constitution.

A legendary blade forged personally by the master craftsman Olyssis from the fangs of the Black Dragon King — one of the Divine Realm's Thirty-Six Famous Swords, ranked thirty-first. However, this blade carries the Black Dragon King's curse: besides granting the wielder tremendous power, it periodically backlashes against them. Thanks to modifications by Jack, who incorporated Stargleam Stone, the backlash force was greatly reduced. Should the wielder fail to suppress the backlash, they will suffer the Black Dragon King's curse — all attributes permanently reduced by 50%. Additionally, the weapon cannot be dropped, traded, or destroyed.

"Incredible!" Shi Feng stared at the evolved Abyssal, momentarily stunned.

Perhaps the Abyssal's current attributes and attack power fell considerably short of the Level 100 Sacred Sword Thunder Slayer and Blade of Dusk, but at Level 80, its stats already rivaled two exceptional epic-grade weapons at Level 85. And the Abyssal's greatest improvement wasn't even in its raw stats.

The third-tier skills had received massive upgrades compared to their second-tier versions — absolute instruments of mass destruction. Even the Legendary-grade item fragments paled in comparison.

If it could evolve once more, the thought of what it might become was almost too much to contemplate.

Of course, evolving it again would be extremely difficult. Previous evolutions had only required Magic Origin Crystals, but the next evolution demanded Divine Crystals — and five of them, no less. Divine Crystals were the kind of thing you stumbled upon by luck; obtaining a single one was harder than finding an epic-grade weapon. The difficulty of gathering five was unimaginable.

Shi Feng immediately swapped out the Sacred Sword Thunder Slayer and equipped the Abyssal in its place.

"So this is the power after evolution?" Shi Feng looked at the Abyssal in his hands, overwhelmed with shock.

His attack power and stats had dipped slightly, but gripping the Abyssal felt like holding an extension of his own body. A casual swing parted the air effortlessly, sending a wave of pressure rippling several yards outward. Its sharpness was absolutely divine — piercing through a Level 100 Great Lord's scales to deal damage would be trivial. His constitution had also received a considerable boost, meaning his combat strength hadn't dropped at all — it had risen.

After spending a while acclimating to the Abyssal, Shi Feng turned his attention to the graves scattered throughout the inner area.

The goal of his class-change quest was to find an inheritance, which undoubtedly resided within these towering tombstones. All he had to do was open the graves to obtain it.

The only trouble was the countless rooster Lord-rank undead monsters and the Heroic Spirits guarding the graves.

Previously, he had been helpless against the endless undead hordes, but now with the Abyssal, holding them off wouldn't be difficult. All that remained was to stall the guarding Heroic Spirits long enough to open a grave.

As for which specific grave contained the inheritance, he had no idea. Shi Feng decided not to take too many risks and instead charged toward the nearest and smallest grave.
