Chapter 1652: Tier 2 vs Tier 2

July 18, 2020 · 5 min read · 954 words

On the battlefield in the teleportation zone, five level-70 High Grand Lord-tier evil demons were furiously attacking Ke Le and his two companions. Their speed was so blistering that even many expert players could barely follow along, yet Ke Le and his team casually swung their shields as though playing a game, managing to deflect every attack the five demons threw at them.

Any expert player who accidentally stumbled into the combat zone was instantly taken out by the residual shockwaves.

"Five High Grand Lord-tier demons, and they're just being held off like that?" Zi Qiong, still locked in combat, stared in disbelief at Ke Le and his team, who were going toe-to-toe with the evil demons.

Level-70 High Grand Lords!

Even the Celestial Secrets Pavilion's top MTs had to activate burst mode to withstand them—and once the burst ended, death was all that awaited.

But Ke Le hadn't used a single burst skill—he was fighting in his normal state. And there were actually three MTs capable of standing up to the demons…

"Zero Wing really is something else. No wonder Feng Qianyu wanted to ally with them." From her distant command post, Xuan Jing glanced at the five restrained demons, a flicker of surprise crossing her face. She was beginning to understand why Feng Qianyu had moved so quickly to partner with Zero Wing—this kind of foresight truly surpassed Jiulong Huang.

Meanwhile, Zero Wing's combatants on the front lines were fired up by the sheer display of Ke Le and his team's power. Their morale soared as they pressed the Heavenly Burial forces relentlessly backward.

"Damn it! How is this possible?!" Lei Jingyang stared daggers at Ke Le and his companions, jealousy gnawing at him. "How does Zero Wing have three MTs who've completed their Tier 2 class change?!"

Heavenly Burial had the backing of major financial groups, had acquired enormous resources, and had attracted plenty of top players. Yet even so, the entire guild had only managed three Tier 2 class changes—that was the result of pooling the guild's full strength to get those three through at level fifty.

Compared to damage-dealer Tier 2 transitions, an MT's Tier 2 class change was far more difficult. Heavenly Burial had tried it too, but every attempt had failed. And yet Zero Wing had somehow managed to get three MTs through their Tier 2 transitions…

Tier 2 MTs were worth far more than any other class. After all, most of a guild's equipment came from dungeons, and having a powerhouse MT dramatically lowered the difficulty of dungeon runs.

"Boss, what do we do? All five demons are tied down, and we're getting pushed back by Zero Wing. If this keeps up, we're really going to be driven out of the teleportation zone!" A level-50 Ranger commanding the front line asked anxiously.

Though they had the advantage in numbers, Zero Wing's forces were devastatingly strong. Their casualties had already topped a thousand, while Zero Wing had lost maybe a hundred or two at most. Most critically, the Magic Light team at the vanguard had suffered virtually no losses.

"All ranged units, shift fire! Concentrate on Zero Wing's three MTs! I refuse to believe that once we take them down, Zero Wing still has anything left to hold those five demons!" Lei Jingyang barked into the team chat.

With that, Lei Jingyang charged toward Ke Le and his team, bringing more than twenty experts and Huo Yun along for the rush.

Three Tier 2 MTs were certainly impressive—but their side had two Tier 2 professionals of their own in him and Huo Yun. In a head-on clash with Ke Le's trio, the outcome was anyone's guess. But with Ke Le's group pinned down by five demons, dealing with them would be a whole lot easier.

In moments, Lei Jingyang's group had closed to within forty yards of Ke Le.

"Die!"

Lei Jingyang drew the white bone saber from his back—silver-gray lightning crackling along its edge—and slashed it toward Ke Le.

Instantly, more than a dozen lightning arcs morphed into silver-gray thunder serpents, hurtling toward Ke Le in streaks of electricity. Each serpent moved as if it were alive—unlike other spells or arrows that flew in straight lines, the thunder serpents' movement was bizarre and utterly unpredictable.

"The boss is getting serious! These Zero Wing guys are done for!" A Thunder Legion member beside him lit up with excitement.

This was Lei Jingyang's signature technique—the Thunder Snake Frenzy Bite—combining his own precise control with his weapon's innate skill.

Each thunder serpent carried power exceeding twenty percent of a player's base stats, and with their incredible speed, even top-tier experts would struggle to block a single one. Facing over a dozen of them with their erratic trajectories? Even an expert of the same rank would have to dodge for the moment.

Huo Yun wasn't about to be outdone. He'd already finished his chant and swept his staff wide. Nine crimson magic arrays materialized around him, rotating in formation as fire elements surged wildly into their centers.

Tier 2 Forbidden Spell—Starfire Impact!

The nine arrays on the ground launched small meteors skyward, which then streaked toward Ke Le. The force dwarfed even Lei Jingyang's thunder serpents, and their speed was no slower.

"Joint attack, huh?" Ke Le watched the thunder serpents and meteors bearing down on him without the slightest panic. He stomped the ground and activated the Heart of the Titan.

The instant he did, a layer of earth-yellow barrier materialized around his body and surged forward to meet the thunder serpents and meteors head-on.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

A rapid-fire series of explosions ripped through the air as lightning and flame collided, their thunderous echo reverberating throughout the tower.
