Chapter 848: Not Smiling

January 17, 2020 · 3 min read · 646 words

The fourth room of the infirmary was more like a cage, holding all manner of people inside — but every single one of them was an adult. Not a single child among them.

"So this imposter posing as a doctor knows the rules of the ghost school quite well. He doesn't target children, minimizing the chance of being targeted by the school's will."

Chen Ge passed mirror after mirror. The monsters trapped within had been completely assimilated by negative emotions, brimming with hostility — utterly impossible to consider as friends.

He walked through the small room. All that was left on the floor were pools of bloodstains. Eventually, he stopped before the last mirror in the corner.

"This mirror is different."

Every other mirror had a doctor's white coat draped over it. Only this one had a patient gown hanging on it.

Tattered and torn, stained with blood. On the chest of the gown, the faint outline of a heart-shaped character could barely be seen.

"This gown isn't from the Psychic Ghost School. That Red Dress must have brought it from the Cursed Hospital!"

Chen Ge had never visited that hospital himself, but he had already seen similar patient gowns more than once.

"So the doctor was actually a patient from the Cursed Hospital in disguise. The real question is — how did a monster from that four-star scenario end up inside this scenario?"

Chen Ge found it deeply puzzling. He had noticed that the monsters from the Cursed Hospital — whether Red Dresses or Obsessions — were all desperately trying to escape.

"Only a top-tier Red Dress, or something above Red Dress, could make ordinary Red Dresses flee in terror. And the doctor looks far more powerful than an average Red Dress. What happened in that hospital to force even Red Dresses to seek refuge in other four-star scenarios?"

There were plenty of unanswered questions, but Chen Ge didn't care about any of them. As long as he found the doctor and took control of him, every problem would be solved.

"Boss, don't get too close to this mirror. It's giving me a very bad feeling." It was Bai Qiulin who spoke. His eyes were shot through with bloodshot veins — he had gone on a killing frenzy. A dangerously volatile aura radiated from him.

"Can you see the person trapped inside the mirror?" Chen Ge was extremely cautious; the slightest hint of danger and he would retreat immediately. They were in the world beyond the door now — no room for recklessness.

Bai Qiulin stood to the left of the mirror, one hand tucked in his pocket. Xu Yin stood to the right, head hanging low. The two flanked Chen Ge on either side, shielding him between them.

"I can't see him, but I can feel his hostility. This one's strong." Bai Qiulin glanced at Xu Yin, who showed no reaction at all. After receiving Chen Ge's signal, without a single word, his blood-stained palm slammed flat against the mirror's surface.

Crack!

The already fractured mirror seemed unable to bear the pressure, and several new cracks splintered across it.

"If you won't come out on your own, we'll just destroy the mirror and lock you in there forever. For us, it's just losing one unimportant mirror. For you, it's losing your last shred of hope. You should know how to choose. And don't even think about resisting — there are five Red Dresses in and around this room. I'm not threatening you. I'm helping you." Spending so much time around Chen Ge had rubbed off on Bai Qiulin — through osmosis, he had picked up a thing or two about Chen Ge's way of handling situations.

The blood-red mirror reflected only Chen Ge's silhouette. Gradually, the figure began to change — the features twisted and distorted, and an unfamiliar face surfaced in the glass.
