Things were going from bad to worse. Zhou Tu had also caught the attention of the monsters — the first wound appeared on his fingers.
"Teacher Bai, what do we do now?"
Chen Ge had no better solution. All he could do was grit his teeth. Even if everyone was torn apart by the monsters and lost the ability to move, he was going to drag every last one of them out of here.
The stench flooded his nostrils, nearly making him pass out. Just as Chen Ge, carrying Wang Yicheng on his back, was approaching the corner on the first floor, a sharp pain suddenly pierced through his chest.
He stumbled, nearly falling to the ground.
He looked down and saw that a spike had been driven into his chest.
"The curse of Room 413?" He realized what was happening immediately and looked toward his shadow.
His normally unremarkable shadow was twisting and contorting violently, as though the "person" hidden inside was enduring unbearable agony.
"Even he's been attacked?"
Every club member had been pushed to their absolute limit. They were covered in wounds, looking absolutely terrifying.
"The exit is right in front of us — don't stop!"
Chen Ge's willpower was extraordinary. He had long grown accustomed to pain.
He yanked the spike out and sprinted forward with everything he had. Every step closer was a step closer to hope.
"Thud!"
Zhou Tu, who was carrying Zhu Long on his back, collapsed on the stairs. His right hand was covered in wounds, looking as though it was about to split apart.
"My painting hand…"
It was already extremely difficult for Chen Ge to carry one person out. Adding more was simply impossible. "Hold on! We're almost at the first floor!"
Their legs felt like they were filled with lead, every step heavier than the last. The stench on the first floor was even thicker than on the second — more monsters were waiting for them down there.
Everyone except Chen Ge had already given up. But just then, the foul smell in the air suddenly thinned, as if someone had drawn a portion of the monsters away.
"Now!" Chen Ge grabbed Zhou Tu, slung Wang Yicheng over his back, and sprinted at full speed. When he reached the first floor, he saw a dark figure standing at the far end of the corridor.
The figure's build was very similar to Chang Gu's. A crimson glow drifted in his left eye, blood seeped through his outer clothing, and he seemed to be holding something in his hand.
"Chang Gu?" Chen Ge called out, but the figure didn't respond. He turned and left, and the stench in the corridor thinned a little more.
"He drew the monsters away?" The Chang Gu Chen Ge remembered was timid and frail — nothing at all like the figure he'd just seen. "He only entered the door a few seconds before me. What happened to him in that time?"
The figure had lured away the majority of the monsters. Chen Ge hurriedly led the club members out of the teaching building.
